Yes, been on DLM-1 since the last resync 9 days ago. Given I'm getting 48Mbps now there's not much point in messing with either config or wiring for me. Unless someone can confirm that DLM can choose to switch to the 17a profile, and given some indication of the requirements for it to do so (hint, hint)...

Right. I wonder why it takes DLM so long to put lines down to DLM-1? Also, often, if there's an upset (resync or outage), it puts you back on DLM-2 or 4.

you are wasting your time playing around trying to get a 17a profile. i can tell you for sure it is a setting that has to be put on the port.

also i have seen people who are not close enough to the port who have been changed to a 17a profile who have suffered with there upload speeds dropping from around 9m to under 1m.

I believe that DLM can now automatically upgrade lines to 17a if the strict conditions are met.

nope. i can almost say for sure that is not true in NZ.
i live so close to the cabinet that i had to run a cable around the house to get my VDSL to stand up as the cable from the cabinet to the ETP was only about 15meters. and still it was only a 8b profile. i had to get the change done on the port.

i use to work in a group who could do these changes, so I know it is a profile on the port that needs to be changed

It used to be the case that port changes had to be done manually, but I have heard from various sources (including information from Chorus) that this is automatic now - but only if your line meets the strict criteria.

not true. what is the strict criteria ??? ask for it and post it. the fact it is a setting on the port. and I am unsure if Chorus even has anyone that could do the change. i know this as i use to work with chorus as well.

I have seen an internal document from chorus that they had plans to make 17a profile changes automatic. I have since heard that this is now active. I don't know all the criteria for 17a, but the line distance must be less than 200m.

good luck. my total cable run is less the 100m and as i said i had to get the change on the port. you are aware that alcatel look after this type of stuff and not chorus. anyway im off this topic

Interesting tho, your SNR Margin is down to 5... Also interesting that your attenuation is now 7, whereas before it showed as 0!

It's seems to be normal for the Fritz!Box to show different attenuation on a VDSL connection compared to the same line with an ADSL connection. My attenuation on ADSL was 2db, now it is 4db with VDSL. I guess the difference could be due to the higher frequencies used for VDSL - attenuation is higher at higher frequencies (that's why the SNR graph on the spectrum tab drops off to the right).

Let us know if your DLM changes profile. Can see your SNR has been tweaked.

Also yes it is normal for attenuation to change like that switching to VDSL.
