sidefx: If you're in Auckland I'd be calling coffeebaron right about now... ;-) Unless you want to try DIY it but with that mess, geez, maybe someone else can help more o.O Do you know which of these 2 incoming lines is actually active?

sidefx: What's that black thing on the top one? Does it look easy to open?

HiTM4N: The bottom one, i don't actually know where that terminates so I can't test it, i would need to get under the house to be able to see.

Doesn't really matter if that's not the VDSL enabled line. Unless you want to get it switched over to that line.
If I understand you correctly that little white box splits the incoming line with one branch going to the dining room where the Fritz is and the other going to the master bedroom and then other extensions. What I would do is to open that white box and disconnect the the master bedroom branch. That should be pretty easy and it could make a huge difference.
If that doesn't improve things enough the next step would be running cat5e or cat6 from either the little white box or the black one. But you might be better to get someone in for that.

SamF: Yup, you definitely need to sort your wiring. Check post #1 for an example of what a difference sorting your internal wiring can do for you!

That is a join, inside its full of this blue sticky waterproof stuff, so like a giant 3m gel splicer. Chorus tech used one on my last place I was staying as he needed to split the line outside, where a junction box would take too long to install and would not be waterproof.... I think he was just being cheap and in a hurry.
