Well the splitter is now gonet. And I ended up just connecting an ethernet patch cable (the inner pair) directly to the incoming pair and the other end plugged directly into Fritzbox.

A couple of changes since: Initially all looked the same. Then the SNR Ratio dropped first to 11db then 10db. And it looks like Bitswap is also on now (not sure if it was when I turned on; I assume so and I just didn't notice) Also the error rate seems a fair bit lower.

For reference, I switched to Snap VDSL2 today and here are the stats after my first sync:

And the speedtest of the above just now:

Pretty stoked so far :)

Hrmm, ok I'm a little confused after a bit of reading on whether the drop in SNR ratio was a good or bad thing but I'm thinking it looks like a bad thing (it's ratio not margin so no sync speed increase when it drops? Or is it actually margin and just "mislabelled" in the Fritzbox? ) Should I put the filter back in and see if it goes back up?

Nope, still stuck on DLM-2 :( Errors are good, averaging around 4-5 per hour, so I'm not really sure why I've not been put down to DLM-1. I tried a manual resync after 7 days uptime, but no change.

Most people have a 1-2db fluctuation in SNRM (it is margin, badly labeled), it's nothing to worry about really - it's there as a buffer so it's doing it's job :) Check out the 'Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR):' section in the first post for a detailed explanation.

Putting the splitter back in will not help.

If you are talking about the value on the DSL tab it is the SNR margin. A drop of a few DB in this value is nothing to worry about. Even if it dropped significantly I wouldn't worry about it unless the sync rate dropped or the connection was unstable. Your sync rate is marginally higher without the filter so I wouldn't put it back.

I'm up to 25 down but still that pesky 8ms latency. Bitswap is off and impluse noise is on 0.0.

what are others with a 14dB attenuation on their VDSL seeing speedwise?

Well DLM is well and truly over by now and things have improved with the ping (DLM1 1ms). Dowload is still around 24mbps and up is just under 9mbps.

Here is the latest speedtest result.

I'm still getting plenty of errors:

I’m quite impressed with the speeds you are getting and the very low Latency, taking into consideration your high line attenuation.

Do you know (approximately) how far away you are from the cabinet/exchange?

I've measued on google maps, and driven from the cabinet to my garage and boht are approx 700 meters.

I see a few of you have attenuations higher than what chorus' maximum is? Or at least i heard it was quite strict at 10.8dB?

My line stats, tweaked the SNR and forgot i left it at 1.6dB SNR - uptime of 20 days hahaha

On an RTA1320 before moving to VDSL my attenuation was showing as 10db; it only went up after moving to VDSL. (and I'm pretty sure when I was running the fritzbox as an ADSL modem it was showing even lower)
