Have you tried a manual re-sync?

Hmmm.. 2 nights and no changes.  I hope this isn't the profile it settles on.  The non-remediable per minute is constantly around 0.15-0.2. How often are\were the DLM changes for y'all in the first 10 days?  (PS: Yes I am impatient! ;-) )

eXDee: I see a few of you have attenuations higher than what chorus' maximum is? Or at least i heard it was quite strict at 10.8dB?

I live 900+ meters away from the Cabinet.  I had fairly good ADSL2+ speeds (0.79/13.5) but my line Attenuation was 9.5 / 17.5 (Up / Down).  When they did a Pre Qual on my line the Line Attenuation was 10.0 – 11.0 db.

I was told when I put in my application for VDSL that Chorus may knock it back.

On the day of the installation, a chorus van appeared in the driveway.  He would have been here all of 20 minutes (making a trip down to the cabinet during that time) and then he said “I’m done – it’s up and running!”.

Sure enough it was up and working.   My stats are not flash at all, but my ambition was to have faster upload speeds and that has been achieved.

Looking at your stats I would certainly ask for a Pre Qual from the ISP.  You may possibly qualify.

During my first 10 days on VDSL I eagerly awaited a DLM Change.  It never happened!   43 days I have now been on VDSL and the throughput is the same and the first day I switched it on.

That's very odd. DLM seems to be a bit inconsistent in it's operation! Napster for instance probably has one of the best lines in the country, yet he's stuck on an interleaved profile...

IIRC mine changed twice, from DLM-6 to DLM-2 to DLM-1. It took 3 or 4 days before the first change. On DLM-1 my remediable errors is around 300 per minute and non-remediable errors around 3 per minute. DLM has not backed off the settings so I don't think your error rate will be a problem (although my error rate was very low before going onto DLM-1). Your attenuation is about the same as SKYMAX and he ended up on DLM-1 so hopefully you will too.

Now this is interesting?  I’ve been quietly waiting for my DLM profile to change and only yesterday did I broadcast the fact that “It’s not happening”.

I now wake up on day 44 and my profile has now changed to DLM-2.   So contrary to my remark yesterday – it does change EVENTUALLY?

On this new profile – the throughput speeds have dropped?

@Allan: Hmm, good to know. That is a bit of a drop in sync; but how has real throughput been affected?

(TBH I'd happily trade a fair chunk of throughput for lower latency ;-) )

Yes there has been a drop in the real throughput.   My Geekzone speedtest this morning was 15.00 / 5.22.
Before it was 16.28 / 5.86

Your attenuation is exceptionally high so you're not going to get any better than that with such poor results. What is your wiring configuration? Do you have a master filter installed or have your modem connected directly to the demarc?

Steve - I have CAT6 cable from the ETP to the telephone jack on the wall. Because I am using a dedicated line for the VDSL, I do not have a splitter.  From the telephone jack I am using the supplied cable that came with the modem.

While the Chorus prequal results aren't exact, they're not normally out by that much. Without knowing the exact cable distance to the cabinet it's hard to know whether the netmap data is wrong, or you've on a dodgy MPF and could benefit from being swapped over to another.

I estimate I am just under a kilometre from the cabinet and that the cable distance is similar. At the time of the prequel my address/phone did not give an automatic response due to a multipoint terminator, which apparently gives fluctuating attenuation results. It was only after submitting a manual prequel it came back with Positive 10?11db
I was also given conservative estimates of 18M down and 7.5 up.
I do not know what a multipoint terminator is, or if that is an issue?
I was told many years ago that the diameter of the copper wire in our area is a size down below the normal. If this is true then that also may have an impact?
