I just changed back from 1Gb to 100Mb this week, so I'm wondering if maybe my upgrade to 300 has been caught in the crossfire or needs to be done manually or something. I might reach out to Spark and ask.

Just repeating my offer to look into this for you ....

Dave.

Mmmm will you be able to check for me as well?

MadEngineer: Hah it’s around 100% at that rate. Profile showed the lcd using 1-2% of cpu so I turned that function off, as impressive as it was to see it graphing the speed upgrade.

Upgraded the 2011UiAS-2HnD to ROS7.  Result:

Impressively, CPU is around 40-50% at that rate under the new OS.

You're not on Atlantis anymore, Duncan Idaho.

Wow. Breathes new life in to it. Probably easily do 500 Mb/s, at which time the 1Gb/s link between the switch chip & CPU will start impacting.

Getting 1 gbps down from anything but maybe speedtest, anything Microsoft and Steam is extremely hard.

Also nothing wrong with saying up to and quite frankly 700-900 is a pretty good variance to settle on even under peak constraints because as I said you'd be hard pressed to notice it outside of speedtest and downloading a game.

This peaked at 800mbps and then settled at 780.

I believe most ISPs say up to X speed so what TP is saying is quite reasonable.

Where ever you think $119 is a good price is up to you(it's not, shop around)

Honestly we've had gigabit a while and if it wasn't for the standard upload being 20 until now I would have downgraded to the 200 plan in Christchurch. Nothing really comes close to needing the gigabit still in our usage, the only things that would use it is game downloads, but on consoles I don't have the latest gen so they don't get close to these speeds, neither does my PC.

It's only working from home pushing large files up the line and using a locally hosted VPN that needed the uploads. I've taken the 6 months free offer from skinny but think when it comes time to pay them I'll be downgrading to 300/100 and saving myself the money.

Just run a test to check my speed, I'm meant to be on 100/200 but the results are saying otherwise.

Not sure how or why the upload is so fast compared to down.

@cbrpilot , is Bigpipe 100/100 going to be upgraded?  If so, what the new speed will be?

Thanks.

@AKLWestie have you read the title of this very thread?

@Linux, I did.  I also read the whole thread and found no information about 100/100 plans.  However, on Chrous' website (https://sp.chorus.co.nz/stories/big-fibre-boost) it said:

On 1 September we announced the Big Fibre Boost, where we will upgrade the speeds of the following offers:

  • Consumer 100/20 being boosted to 300/100.
  • Business Evolve 100/100 being boosted to 300/300.
  • Small Business Fibre 100/100 being boosted to 500/500.

So I want to know am I going to get new a speed upgrade, as I cannot translate whether BigPipe's 100/100 is "Business Evolve 100/100" or "Small Business Fibre 100/100".

Thanks for reminding me to read the title.  I read it many time.  Thanks again.
