Jase2985: i think if you telnet in to the netcomm you should be able to get the DSLAM/MSAN type out of the settings

xdslctl info --vendor

ok that's interesting, one of my dsl connections says "chipset vendor id: ikns:0x0001" and the other says "chipset vendor id: bdcm:0xa3f5".  maybe that explains the difference between the two connections.

Exchange fed lines by chance?

nope, cabinet.

Interesting.

Reminds me much of @Lorenceo's lines, Didnt think there was that much mix and matching in cabinets however.

i didn't even realise, i just thought it was odd that one of them seemed to be better than the other, and put it down to chorus tech doing bad wiring.

Jase2985: :)

could be, im on ikns too, which is think is not the one you want to be on if you have 17a :(

Dont have old line with 17a handy but this was a snap when it was 8b, 17a coming a few weeks after this shot.

They are more than happy to hand out 17a! ill have to dig up your stats in the other thread out of curiosity now though!

The comparison between how the two cards play out always interest me.. would love to see full stats there!

Ah right. Well thats another situation where the differance between the two are interesting.

Atlest now we know, it seems to be a thing, the paying the tech off for the broadcom linecard thing will become the new thing to try out! - oh wait, maybe i shouldnt be handing out that idea....

your power is amazingly low, i bet they reduced the power on the connection because it was doing well.

oh what, that's 17a?  it looks like 8b :)  8b has 18.5 and 13.5 dbm for power i think.  so often lines will start on the faster sync rate, then immediately resync to a slower sync rate. i think 17a is normally 14.5, but i dunno everything is changing.

So broadcom linecard as suspected, Defiantly looks like its not just a missreading based of those stats, but still...

i need to sit down and do the math, that line must be totally to the walls clean.... it just doesnt make sense at 8b.

i have seen 10.5dBm pretty commonly on 17a.
