hio77: 90day wait period possibly?

I would have said so myself, but that got disproved when I hooked a customer up myself and they jumped straight onto a 17a profile?

Were they initially connected on 8b and immediately changed to 17a or initially connected on 17a? If it was the later then that's not inconsistent with a 90 day minimum gap between changes.

as far as I could see, as soon as I connected them (eg plugged in their modem) they wen't straight onto 17a

For 2 years I was with a (boutique) provider and getting 70/10. I switched to another (botique) provider on the condition I would keep my speeds, and low and behold, my speed dropped to 42-44/10.

It has varied over time between 41-48mbps.

I have tried escalating etc various ways with no luck.

I have a Zyxel Modem.

Is there any way to get back to the profile I had before? My connection was rock steady at 70/10 and I could max my connection out day and night. I feel obviously my line is capable.

can only assume a condition isnt being met..

17a seems to include more than what was actually listed, but not sure.

chorus guy that posted the details basically said he could look into it, but wont due to the fact that every man and his dog would wanna know why they wont get 17a, which is a pretty fair call.

why your line itself dropped down, and wont go back up, really does make no sense.. i still cant work out why my line dropped from 44/10 to 36/10.. DLM does some really odd things

Would this be correct in saying that possibly more people (since you originally signed up to VDSL) have also gone onto the same services or ordered ADSL? Thus more noise on the lines? is that even possible?

Well anything is possible. The drop in speed was the day we switched providers however.

Yeah, because when you switch providers your whole line settings starts from the beggining. What I'm thinking is the quality came down enough to a point to validate putting you on a 8b after the reset (you always get reset after you change providers), rather than 17a. While your connection before it might have not justified it enough to downgrade?

Crosstalk is a major limiting factor with VDSL. But you should be able to see the difference in the spectrum graph and it's highly unlikely to have coincidentally appeared just when networkn changed ISPs. I think what's happened is that the change of ISPs has caused a switch back to 8b. It'll probably go back to 17a eventually.

considering the 44 on 8b though, crosstalk cant be too bad..

it is one of thoses lines that looks like it should be 17a, clearly it has been it before, but now its no longer allowed it.

maybe your line got past and locked into 17a, then 8b reset, since then conditions have changed (although its seems 17a allowance has gotten bigger not smaller..) and is no longer viable.

Yeah I don't think crosstalk is the problem here. I bet it's easy to get defaulted to 8b when changing ISPs unless your new ISP follows exactly the right procedure. And if that 90-day between bandplan changes thing works the way I think it does then it'll be 90 days before it even considers 17a again.

yes, that would be the case, but im pretty sure networkn has been longer than 90 days at this point if memory recalls right.

while the 90 days in nowhere near exact, since DLM slows down its intervals, ild expect there to possibly be more delay between a check.

I was bumped to a 17a profile this morning at about 5:40am. syncing at 64/10 and DLM-2. will wait and see what happens there.

Ive had VDSL since September i think. so its taken a while to get there.
