No the company I work for gives me a free phone plan that suits my call and data needs :)

Not necessarily. Do you have any friends or family with a mobile on account with Vodafone? The mobile and broadband don't have to be on the same account, you just have to register the mobile on the naked account and enter the verification text they send. The mobile can even be a work account.

Asrafrate: Yep that's what I was looking at with Vodafone... except you still get niked on the prices.

If I have an on account plan with Vodafone I can get 50gb for $55 per month. If I DON'T have a plan with them, it's $85 ~_~ Getting a plan with them will over all cost me more anyway because right now I get my phone plan for free.

I've heard bad things about Orcon's service so not going there. Never heard of SNAP or XNet and I've never been a fan of start up ISPs :/

i think snap is actually older than xtra. as from memory they are from netaccess and inet, both of which were operating in the 90s. someone said 2005, but that may been when they changed names.

from "whois" database inet registered in 98, netaccess registered in 97, xtra registered in 97, vodafone in 2000 (but ihug in 97, which they originated from), and clear 97.

hamish225: if you have no credit history, expect telecom to ask you for a $400 bond, it may be different but when i tried to sign up for a phone on a plan they asked me for this, i told them that if i had $400 then i'd just buy the phone outright and said that i'd stay with Vodafone.

heh when i first joined telecom they made me fax id to them because i had no credit history. i'm like i don't have a fax?!!! they tried to tell me i should go to a copy place to do it, which uhh, i did .. but back then there were no choices for phone line.

I was asked for a scan/fax of two forms of photo ID - no bond - when I signed up for phone/DSL a couple of years ago. Luckily my student ID had arrived and I was still at my parents' house.
