If you are having disconnects you should get your wiring checked as suggested. Changing ISPs is certainly no guarantee it would resolve it, in fact you may get a worse connection.

There is a good change if you changed ISP they would just be reselling the same wholesale service to you (So same disconnection issues between you and the DSLAM), but also a good chance you will have other throughput issues.

Telecom IS the best ISP in NZ in terms of service IMO, they are however a little more expensive and lack services/features.
