That's nice an all but what if the teenager is using it for school? (admittedly I blow 100GB on youtube) but the other 100GB part of my plan? used for uploading and such for my graphics.

I see your point, but that is definitely not a requirement for learning now or in the near future.

To tell you the truth, data is so cheap on snap I just dont care anymore, Its like 10c a gig for the bigger packs.

I just use it for whatever. Dont even look at the graphs these days.

My downloading on "other content" is all done on the slingshot connection. Just leave it going and copy things off the downloading computer as they are done. Again, it completes things so I dont bother looking at the usage.

Since snap offer a 1TB pack at a good price, and exceeding that would take a lot of effort considering the unmetered nights I dont think that UFB would push me onto a second pack ever for the forseable future.

My course in AS requires me to have an actual client and if I miss a deadline I fail my course so yes it's very Important to me

It requires you to use 100GB of data per month, or requires an internet connection? The Internet is an invaluable resource, my point was 100GB of data isn't a requirement for education.

I tend to agree on this concept.

Data is so cheap now, even from the big guyslike Telecom and Vodafone that you really shoulnd;t need to worry about it being a problem.

with caps above 100GB avai only a very small proportion of people would need to worry about that.

Maybe when/if more streaming media services become available in NZ we will start seeing usage shooting up to those kind of levels, but right now it is pretty hard to get through more than 100GB in a month for the typical family/household, regardless of whethe rit is UFB or ADSL.

the limitation nowadays isn't the speed of the internet, or the price per GB. The limitation is the lack of services available for the mass mrket to use the data.

With our Fibre connection with Snap, our chargeable usage isn't exceeding 100Gb, and there's an unemployed person at home, spending a fair chunk of time online. The free YouTube and uncapped nights make it very economical.

It sounds like our family usage (1~3gb/day) is quite average for a kiwi family

Data usage will gradually rise as people become more familiar with cloud storage as well as fill their live with web enabled devices, we used to easily survive on 30gb/mth now it is double that and our usage habits haven't really changed, I suppose as the web gets faster websites take advantage of it and consume more data for the same amount of browsing
