Kraven:
chevrolux: Sweet! '15-'16 for me!! If this area gets covered most of Palmy is going to be covered by then too!!

Same for me (also in Palmy) - frustrating thing at the moment is they are currently deploying in the street behind me! There is still a huge chuck missing from the west-wide of town too (Awapuni area).

Yea I find that interesting. I am on the very edge of the coverage in Awapuni down the Long Melford rd end so am very happy to have the magical red shading over my place. I just hope they choose to not be retarded and go underground. Our phone is currently UG but the power is OH.

If the street behind you is getting done go and get friendly with some people and set up a wifi link ;)

Boo! No UFB deployment for us until after 2016. It's a bit annoying given we're not cabinetised either so we get mediocre ADSL performance.

Right now I am stuck with Xnet within a really limited CAP

By Jun '15 for me! I live on Waiheke Island and I thought we'd be last (we were pretty much last for cabinetisation).

Have you not changed to one of their new plans?

networkn: Also using marginally different blue colours is very confusing!

Same for the brown shades used for the xDSL overlay - Chorus, if you are reading this, may I suggest greater contrast between the colours used - it is difficult to match the colour in the key to that on the map.

Also, don't turn on the xDSL and UFB overlays at the same time - you'll get a mixture of colours that aren't in the key!

Who can we give feed back to Chorus directly about?

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

yes, I have changed to their new plans. But 70gb for $120 is still too expensive compared to snap where I can get 500+ GB at that price. I have very heavy data users within my household.

Are there any plans to extend the UFB coverage area after 2019? One of my friends lives on Pacific Drive, Palmerston North. This area is totally ouside of the current UFB area; even though it is heavily urbanised now.

Very unlikely I woudl say. the further out your go, the worse the economics get.   Probably a large chunk of the UFB served area is uneconomic anyway (it is only being done because the LFCs have to do it in order to get the government subsidy).  So it's pretty unlikley they would roll it out even further to areas that woul be hugely loss making.

Having said that, who knows what will happen by 2019 - costs of technology is always dropping, and new technology is always being developed, so it really is anyone's guess

The optimist in me says that after 2019, Chorus will continue to gradually extend the network. For example, just like the BOF subdivision programme, I'd expect that any new development would be UFB whether in a "UFB zone" or not. Replacing existing copper is a bit harder to justify and would probably depend on uptake.

It's funny how a number of streets (or small parts of streets) here in Palmy still have overhead phone lines and underground power lines. Or have underground phone lines and overhead power lines. The vast majority have both underground now. It would be nice if 'they' finished off the remaining ones at some stage.

Awesome, my areas still doesn't have plans to go UFB. Although they may delay it due to this area having VDSL2 available.

My current address doesn't appear to be getting UFB until after mid 2016 so I may have to go with VDSL2 in the interim. I really miss having UFB after getting it last year before moving.
