timesplice:
linw: That little ONT fibre pigtail is a real problem with little kids around! Or even someone just dusting. Just checked mine and it is a very fragile thin fibre lead-in.

Glad my ONT is well away from interference under my house.

I was even concerned with the way it crosses over the power lead which was putting pressure on it.  I got a sticky pad and stuck the power lead back to the wall against the feeding conduit( you can see it in one of the photos) I really wish the ONT could incorporate the pig tail in behind the unit so it was super safe and secure. As it is the ONT is only held on the wall by a plastic clip on either side. A decent knock and its off the wall and possibly dangling by the fiber.

The pigtail plug is locked into the back of the ont and cant be pulled out / The pigtail 'Cord' itself is made up of several layers including a complete rap of kevlar around the plastic coated fibre strand - the kevlar is locked into the plug / you would put a hole in the wall before you would crush or pull the cable apart

I have used Fibre a lot in my jobs and Fibre really isn't that delicate than people think.

Yes the fibre from the Cabinet -> Back of the ONT has much smaller shielding over it but it then gets spliced into one which has a lot more shielding/protection on it. This has the the green SC end on it which plugs into the ONT.

The only thing you have to be careful really is not to put too much of a bend on the fibre or the light can leak out of the side of it (causing Attenuation) or even break it. The "Bend Radius" can be like 2 cm for smaller jacketed cabling but the larger the jack (or multiple fibres in jackets) it can be more. (It all depends on the specifications of the Cable)

If you have some fibre cable (not being used) try and break it! Its not that easy...

Thanks for explanations, installers. My ONT is very safe, anyway.
