lchiu7: This is similar to what I get but irrespective of that, I can usually watch HDX with no buffering on Telecom.

Can I ask which plan you have with Telecom?

I've heard it a number of times now: big players just have better i'ntl bandwidth capacity c.f. the others.

Just I incase some did not know...The absolute maximum you will get out of a Slingshot connection in terms of international throughput is 5Mb/s in the best of conditions. This is also regardless of the plan you are subscribed to.

If I was heavily relient on international transit, their connection would be a write-off. I would go Telecom or a smaller ISP like Actrix.

The $99/500G plan. To tell the truth sometimes I get better international streaming on Telecom than I had with TCL/VF and the 100Mbs/10Mbs plan. Of course that's only one stream or one video being watched.

On BT the TCL/VF plan would deliver amazing bandwidth compared to Telecom but that is the difference between 14Mbs and 100Mbs total bandwidth and multiple streams. Plus other folks in the household would not notice when a large download was taking place which they do on Telecom.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

NonprayingMantis: it will be pretty difficult to find any ISP that offers enough international bandwidth to consistently get super HD on Netflix.

Our Snap ADSL2+ in Kapiti connection is good enough to watch HDX, 1080p, on Vudu. Also never have any issues steaming super HD off Netflix.
