Will someone think of the children?

My kid just finished watching Texas Chainsaw Massacre and playing GTA SA only to open his emails to see this.... it is a outrage I tell you.... those poorly drawn people are KISSING.

OMG KISSING! I don't want to expose my child to anything dangerous!

Will someone please think of the children. I call on the government to ban dangerous things like kissing on our computers/tvs.

BT57 this is not a hoax e-mail -- whoever you spoke to at Xtra has it wrong. This is definitely from Xtra and it is a teaser for the imminent launch of Yahoo!Xtra.

I work for telecom, This morning when i arrived at work, i opened my inbox and there was a email to the site from one of the managers advising us call volume will be quite high today with regards to this hoax email and our xtra team is investigating as to where it had come from.

This is spam originating from a desk in Xtra and wasn't authorised as far as I can tell (after talking with Xtra help desk staff). It is part of the spam that got Xtra blacklisted with sorbs.net and which is currently causing Xtra customers to have some of their email bounce as Xtra is now considered a black listed spammer. THe advanced adsl team is investigating spam coming out of xtra and still don't think that was legitimate email (as of Monday).

If it was authorised I would be looking at kicking xtra in the butt as I do not expect my ISP to spam me. Whatever wayit happened it is obvious Xtra are now blacklisted spammers and deserve to be.

Damn I hate that place. Bring on unbundling, naked DSL and whatever else can force them to get a move on and do their job properly.

Goodbye horrible "msn" portal

Hello even more ugly and unfriendly yahoo portal. Anybody seen the links to get to their xtra web mail? It is certainly a heck of a lot smaller then the yahoo links. My customers couldn't find it and used google to find the link directly ... now therei s an irony if ever I heard of one.

Would help desk contractors know much about xtra marketing? As for it being spam, it's not the only thing that's been sent to all customers. Xtra's T&C includes "Bills and other notices will be sent to the last physical or electronic address you have given us. You consent to receive communications from us electronically at your email address."

1 - Advanced Help Desk team (advanced broadband or CFT or CTS or whatever they call themselves now) knows nothing about it and this is two weeks after the Somethings coming email.

T & C says for Bills and Notices and this was neither a bill or a notice ... it was advertising ... end of story.

It was also not sent to my last known email address ... it was sent to a harvested or otherwise made up email address on my domain. Email from xtra goes to one particular address .. this spam went else where. I am very very particular about my email addresses and each supplier has a different email address allocated to them for correspondence so I can track who spams me and where spammers harvest addresses from. Xtra didn't use their email address but used a made up one.

This is a method that works well ... I caught novell selling email addresses and put them on my never do business with these guys again list.

sigh.

For the last time... this was *not* spam and is *not* unknown to Telecom. It was designed, authorised and delivered by Telecom's marketing team as part of the X Meets Y campaign. If you have spoken to someone at Xtra who claims to know nothing about it, then you have spoken to someone who does not read their internal memos.
