By the way what usually makes PPP stop working randomly or when the phone rings?  Just interference and reflection from other jacks?

Just wanted to update this thread. I know it's been many months but I did solve all of my issues a few weeks back. Installed a master filter in a box underneath the first socket with new scotch locks. Can't remember exactly now, but the connections looked pretty poor originally and the cable to the second socket may have been disconnected.

The internet used to disconnect when the phone rang and randomly (as thread title says) and now it's perfect. Well aside from occasional slowdowns because it seems my netgear dgn2000 router tends to overheat badly.

Sync Speed 13103 kbps 1176 kbps
Line Attenuation 17.0 db 5.4 db
