Try and get previous owners or tenants to keep their account intact if they have broadband and change the name on account to yours then pay telecom the fee to break your contract. At least you get broadband this way. Or talk to the neighbours offer to pay their bill and set up a wifi link with ubiquiti m5's or something. I got a mate doing this and his cabinet is fortunately being upgraded as I type this, the old conklin is being pulled out and replaced with adsl2+

Something like contact the current owners, tell them about the port shortage/problem and ask them if they are willing to contact their ISP and arrange a transfer of the existing account to you.

You would probably have to stick with whatever ISP they are with for the rest of their contract term (unless you want to pay the break fee) but it would be better than no internet.

Tried that, current owners not keen to do it as they want to be sure there are no hiccups when they move to New place. Not going to try to convince them so just gonna keep my fingers crossed ! Thanks for all the advice, greatly appreciated.

Bummer, they are probably worried about the same problem.

If this area is poorly served might be an opportunity to start up a local wireless ISP.

All house sales in my opinion should have a "broadband must be avaliable" clause as part of the contract. We have been contacted by farmers who are subdividing their land and this keeps coming up with people from the city wanting to buy a lifestyle block but keep asking for a broadband clause in the land sale. Good on 'em i say

To be quite honest, if I was building a new home etc, and I knew there was a port shortage, I would ask if I could pay for a upgrade on the cabinet/exchange.
