Well at this stage (7pm Sunday) it looks like I may owe ihug an apology.  Since getting the D-Link modem and the network configured to use my main machine to access the net about 1pm, it's run continuously without a hiccup.  Looks like I'm in the market for a new router.  BTW I'm now getting 4meg down so even that's picked up a bit.  Thanks for your help and encouragement.  I really was at wit's end and ready to do ihug an injury.

paradoxsm:
Vodafone are having serious internal issues I was told today, The company is literally rotting from the inside out.. though this could be all just speculation form an ex disgruntled employee.

Ha! I went for a job interview with them, the HR person had just been made redundant, and throughout the interview you could tell she was bitter as, they seem to treat staff like crap.

Thanks for all the suggestions and help.  It in fact turned out to be a DSE router that wasn't up to the higher speed for whatever reason.  I went back to the D-Link I got when I signed up and it's woerked flawlessly since.  In fact it's worked so well that I exceeded my alotted bandwidth the past two months....

Thanks VERY much.
