mwtb: You're right. I wasn't aware that the contract VDSL installs included the wiring. I'm on no contract naked DSL at the moment and a bit wary of taking on a contract but I might give it a shot if I feel happy I'm staying put for 12 months. I'm fairly sure I'm just too far away for it to work though. The cabinet is a way down the road to catch more people overall but because the bulk of the houses/businesses are right by the shore it means they're over 2kms away.

I'm still made up with the likelihood of getting 12Mbps. Downloading a big Steam game in less than a week becomes a possibility.

You never know you might be on the short end of the cable. That's always a possibility.

First comment, great part of the country, had a good look around at Xmas, beautiful!

Secondly, the Cabinet for CW is now Planned to be commissioned this month (Jun-2014).  If you want to know more detail, please PM your exact address details to me, your RSP or other people willing to help in this thread as we can do lookups of the current/upgrade maps.  But as has been said many times before to get support for low sync speed, please also ensure you have a Master Splitter installed.

Cheers,
PJ.

I managed to get upgraded to ADSL2 a few weeks ago (and then shifted to BigPipe now that I can actually use a fair chunk of download). The connection is occasionally dropping so I imagine the cabinet is still being tinkered with but I'm all set.

Or you need a master filter. ADSL2+ is more fussy with wiring than ADSL1.
