Except I never saw a scope to agree to. I told the designer what I would like, he took some photos and left. The guy barely said 2 words (so I don't trust him not to screw it up)

Oh. Thats strange, you'd expect a copy of something, even if it was "run cable into home, down wall behind living room TV, in vicinity of power outlet"

I'm going to call Enable tomorrow and ascertain what documentation I will recieve for the scoping.

You really need to be at home when the installs are happening. I had a nice chat with the Chorus (Downer?) installer when I had the ONT installed, in my case the ONT in the garage with an ethernet cable to the wi-fi router in the middle of the house:

There are some good guides online to running ethernet cables around your house, is a bit tricky to connect the cables to the sockets. Fairly easy to run the cables if you have underfloor access and a bit more tricky if dropping the cables down through the walls from the roof.

I've asked to be contacted before any works are done, and been told this will happen. However I have very little faith that this will happen for each step unless I'm absolutely required to be there (ie they need internal access).

The reason I have such little levels of faith is a week after making that request I get emailed this while I'm out of town.

It appears that those guys were mostly working on the road with only minor trenching on the property (a couple of meters), but zero notification after specific requests to be notified so I can be onsite for all works.

The policy for Enable is you need to be at home for the scope, I've been scheduled for 9am to 11am tomorrow. This is to decide and agree how to get the cable to the house, and how and where to run cable in the house You have to be there

Civils. This is laying the cable to the house, you do not have to be there, but you could choose to be to make sure its as per scope

Intsall, you have to be there for internal access, Ive been scheduled 8am - 12 noon, 4 March thats time to enter house in walls/ceiling etc as required. Recommendation by Enable is the typical location for the ONT is by the main TV

I called Enable, advised of concerns re scope and internal exposed conduit, and the iPad issue

If they can run inside walls, if internal walls are hollow, not batted, they will.
The scope is only on the iPad, no docs are left, the signoff is on the iPad screen, but customer can request the scope is emailed
Every detail of the install will be on the scope.

timmmay: To the OP - I would put in a complaint, have them move the ONT, and pay for repairs when they didn't do the work as agreed. Or if you want to be practical run a cable to your router.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I really appreciate all the help. I think I'm probably leaning towards timmmay's suggestion because Enable are the ones at fault as they installed the ONT in a location other than specified in the scope, in a location that has left us with a very unsatisfactory internet experience, so they should be responsible for fixing it up.
