I think the problem here is what does "ready" mean? Ready for testing? Ready to hand over orders to ISP's? Ready for ISP's to provision users?

I would like to see Chorus offer more detail and information on their UFB map, for example why can't they should some type of progress graphic, like physical work done, testing done, waiting to hand-over to ISP's?  They have all the data needed for this.


A good rule of thumb is to assume the data is in a system fifteen years old, and any public "web" view is done with smoke and mirrors.

There should be no "time" spend upgrading the checker, as it should be driven off data they already have, such as a what streets have fibre, what state each street is at, what services are at each address.  Chorus used to make this data publicly available via a series of spreadsheets, so it is there.  All I am suggesting is that they add more detail to the current site.

Surely as more and more streets become UFB ready, they (Chorus) will receive more and more of these questions, which could be easily answered by adding the detail to the website.

95% of people dont care, its the so called "geeks", those that game, download and stream that care. the majority of other new zealanders dont care in the sightest, look the UFB uptake rate. not very high.

again you are asking them to spend more time and resources into something that is a general guild. its not meant to be 100% accurate, it even says so below it.

maybe they only update it weekly, or monthly due to other processes and systems in the background, or maybe its all manual, you and i have no idea how their systems work or interact.

there are many threads like this on here, "the address checker says i can get UFB but my ISP's one says i cant" or "fibre has been run past my house for weeks but the address checker still says i cant get it, help"

dont get so hung up on such a minor thing, just ask you isp every fortnight or so. you will get it in good time.

  • UFB fibre up to 200 Mbps between Jul-2018 and Jun-2019
It has been that way since UFB was announced.

I am not complaining or whining, I am simply asking if the Chorus data is accurate when a date has already passed.  At no point I have moaned or complained about not being able to get UFB.

I also asked as I can see that as the UFB rollout progresses, more and more people will go to the Chorus site, and may see the same thing.
