Mco:

Anyway I've grown tired of the slow rate at peak hour (around 8pm at night), which is when I use the net the most (gaming, music, videos etc). It can go pretty fast at off peak rates, like the morning and late at night, but I rarely use it then.

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction, I'm looking for about a 5gb cap per month, unfortuanitly telstra cable was unavailable in my area (Halswell, Christchurch). I'm looking to spend around $60 a month,

Have you looked at the Explorer plan?

Its $49.95 per month.

I kind of want to stay away from Xtra, heard some good stuff about this Xnet so going to give it a try,

Last question:

After calling up Xnet and organising everything, they then said "does telecom supply your line?", I had no idea what that means so I asked if they could rent me one out but apparently they dont. What exectly do I have to do here? I'm waiting for the telecom bill to confirm what I pay for exactly.

Cheers

i'm moving to halswell and i'm on explorer (it says 5gig but you actually get 6gig)

i must say telecom plans are pretty good. their helpdesk is 24hrs and you talk to a kiwi human within 10 seconds (unlike some where you wait for 45 mins and they say they're ring you back).

HOWEVER - i am still looking to change to another plan because i don't want to pay my phone bill (we hardly use the landline) ... so when the naked dsls roll out then we will see ...

You must be one of the lucky ones Joker.  The times I have rung xtra I usually get someone I cant understand I am guessing they are overseas and I usaully had to wait ages for the phone to be answered.  Though I must say each time I did get someone they resolved the issue in a timely enough fashion
