Totally incorrect. This seems to be one of the most commonly quoted mistruths in the xDSL world.

If you have a naked connection with a single jackpoint then no master filter is required. If you have a connection with multiple jackpoints it makes no difference whether you have POTS on or off, the master filter does it's job eliminating the internal wiring.

Ah, indeed after a closer look. So OP already on VDSL.

Haha 42Mbps... easy to miss a zero. I think 8dB is fine for a 300m link to the cabinet, the prequal is probably estimated using a much lower frequency. Don't play with the scotch-loks in the ETP if you are sure you crimped them properly, but they generally either work or they don't and you can visually check the wire is fully squeezed into the contacts anyway.

Time to find a new industry!

For anyone who's interested, One month later, (so post the majority of DLM changes), it's sitting on 65Mbits down and 10.36Mbits up (It shows 54.8Mbit upload attainable, but I think Chorus limits it to 10.36). I'm also getting a 15msec ping to my first hop.

Here's a log from times I logged into the modem to take a look.

A few notes:
The 17a profile added 1dB of line attenuation.
The modem is connected to a DC ups so has not been disconnected or reset since the line was connected.
This is a clothed line.

I'm actually trying to get dual bonded VDSL lines (one clothed, one naked) but Chorus are holding up every step in the process for the new (naked) connection.

I've been trying for a month now and chorus have visited the site at least seven times each times with a different excuse as to why they can't connect the line.

The latest excuse is that the physical address of the copper is wrong so I have to wait for chorus to create a new address in their system and then transfer the existing line to that address and then (and only then) can they connect the naked line up - Very frustrating as I was hoping for a month testing both lines while DLM did it's thing! ISP's hands are tied as Chorus are the gatekeeper - very frustrating for me!
