Is the Kapiti Coast area experiencing the same issues of poor speeds, as referenced in that monster cable congestion thread?

BarTender: Last time I checked Spark was the only major player in Param.. Vodafone won't do it due to the cable network and I dont think anyone else had bothered.
What's wrong with Spark. They have consistently been uncongested during peak hours.

Nothing necessarily wrong with Spark - just looking around at the options to get the best deal. Having said that outside of BigPipe, most of the players seem to be around the same price so they'd probably be my choice until BigPipe offered fibre in Kapiti (if ever).

Skillie:

From the "Krapi" thread - VF Cable not too bad in Kapiti - touch wood!

Yeah I'm currently with VF on 50/2 and not having too many issues at the moment. However I'm looking at fibre for a few reasons - one of which being I don't want to get stuck in a situation where switching to fibre costs $$$ if/when the install "subsidy" stops.

Personally my experience with VF at the moment isn't that bad so I wouldn't have a problem going with fibre with them if only they would take my money...

But sometime near August this year that should change and allow ISPs to pay a bit extra to Chorus and have their stuff "transported" to their POP? (e.g. Kapiti traffic for BigPipe could be sent to the BigPipe POP in Wellington?)

Did I get that right or am I way off base?

Do you have a source for that? Chorus offering tail services is a fairly often repeated rumour, and there is lots of debate over whether it's even legal for them to do this under their UFB agreement if they even did want to.

Just basing it off the content on the page that DarkShadow linked too and what it was saying.

The documents linked to in Chorus Informer 356 does suggest they are planning on doing this, if not now then in the future.
