Hi,

I wish to recommend My Republic. They have great customer care. I got this awesome TP-LINK router which just needs resetting every few days.

I have paid for a 100/50 gamer plan. Let me check my speed right now and upload it for you to compare.

I use that same router (Also knows as the Archer C2) on Bigpipe and never need to restart it, Is your firmware up to date?

If it needs resetting "every few days" I personally wouldn't call that an "awesome" router.

According to that graph, Vodafone cable is the place to be. 110% of your rated speed at 8PM.

Dang, no Vodafone cable at my place - will have to persevere with bigpipe fibre :-)

im guessing its because some people still have a 130mbps service and its advertised as 100mbps now

I was told (and while I trust the source it's always possible they're incorrect) that they only have 1Gbps links to each POP. This would explain why there have been posts here on GZ from people in Auckland that have OK speeds, but those in the regions have poor commented on poor performance.

Of course Truenet's testing methodology (and the methodology of looking at true speed vs QoE) is flawed anyway, so you can take what you want from their testing anyway.

An appropriately Dilbertesque result, it seems.

Not that Dilbertesque - I thought the general sentiment was that you can't go wrong with most of the bigger providers. We ended up going with Orcon because they're doing a 2 month free offer, which was attractive. Orcon also has a 30-day trial period, so we figured we would have an option to leave if the service wasn't up to scratch.

Chorus has actually been great in communicating with us - after receiving some cryptic messages from Orcon about consent being required, I moved quickly to establish contact with the Chorus consents team, and they have been on the money in moving things along. While originally the property was classified as a MBU requiring consent because of a shared driveway, we were able to get the property reclassified as an SBU since each of the properties on the shared driveway have their own individual aerial access to the road, all on different poles. So hopefully this means things move along quicker now.

I refuse to give up in trying to get a quick installation done! I'm now at 10 days and counting. My glass remains half-full :)

That's good to know. The 30 day trial period is like having no contract for the first month only.

Or with Bigpipe you would just have no contract for all your months.

In any case, it's going to work out perfectly for you since we have a pretty sweet deal for people who already have UFB installed (use UFBSWITCH when you sign up).

So you could always get it installed with Orcon as you are doing now, which would then qualify you for our 2 month free offer.

Then cancel Orcon within 30 days and switch to Bigpipe (using someone's referral link to get you another $20 credit). That would get you effectively 3 months free and $20 credit and you would still have no contract locking you in. win-win. I'd say. :)

Another amusing thing too is I see 2degrees are currently offering "3mo interest free (had to say the first thing that came to my mind)" however you're locked into a contract for 12mo with a hefty termination fee. I came from 2degrees and joined BigPipe and have never looked back.
