I've never seen an electrical pillar box with bollards around it.

I imagine the cost is passed on to the person who did the damage, and most of the time insurance will pay up.

Bollards nation wide, 100 million dollars, making someone else pay, costless.

DarthKermit:

Why don't they have any steel protective pillars at the corners the way above ground electrical distribution boxes often have?

They do when they are really exposed ( have a look at the one near 'Nemos fish and chips' up on 943 Tremaine ave)

Thats the way the driver came at the one on the previous photo between that tree and the fence - shunted the cabinet off its base (bending that) and carrying it along the foot path - the fence/s were pushed back and snapped off at the bottom but had been propped back up and tied together in the other photo

Like this example of protection

Thats a transformer, that's a totally different kettle of fish. That sucker is probably supplied with 11kV. If someone hits it and doesn't die from the impact (it's a VERY solid bit of kit), emergency services will be at risk.

^ and yet you see kids playing on them, using them as a kind of hangout for the local hoods.  If only they knew how much fun can be had when they go bad and both electricity and oil are involved.

yes, but they're all nice and toasty warm in the winter time, so obviously ideal for the local hoods to keep their hands from getting cold
And I'm sure the alleged toxicity of transformer oil is just part of the plot to keep young people from enjoying their right to loiter

wink

I walked by this cabinet that @installerUFB kindly locked the other week, today.

There is no sticker or other kind of identifying label on it to state who owns the cabinet or what it is for. It might be a good idea for Chorus to place an identifier on all such cabinets.
