If I remember right the Chorus microducting has a ali layer in it. So a metal detector should be able to find them. And in my street they never used the black marker discs.

That would be the older laterals (installed 4+ years ago) but you still have to make an electrical contact to the foil to make it 'sing' - unless you have a pro metal detector and the installers aren't going to go an buy one for a lost lateral (working off the plans and digging is cheaper)
