eXDee: Going to give this a go, seems like a good idea.

However their server has issues with speed, im pulling 20kb/s for the installer, and it doesnt support download resuming so my download manager cant split up the file :(

edit: so far the process is just sitting there, increasing in mem usage 200k at a time and then pausing for 20s before increasing again. then it drops down again and repeats the process.
edit2: now sitting idle on 7.5mb usage, program hasnt opened yet.

Sounds like EXACTLY what I got - the process is there, but no UI ever comes up...

Cheers -N

I've run it twice, and both times it fails to read my "line speed". Does anyone know how it's trying to determine this?

Tried right-clicking the icon and running the tests manually?

I think their servers may be overloaded at the moment - this is a beta and we just have been sending users and users there ;-)

If you find anything strange remember to contact them to report. Or post here.

For me at least, there's no icon to right click on!

I have logged an issue with them and got the automated reply with an incident number, but have had no communications apart from that.

I had a similar issue yesterday.  It's now reading them today, however a full reinstall was required to get the application running again.

I had an icon in the tray after installing it yesterday. But it's not showing up today. Killing the IsposureAgent.exe process and then restarting Isposure makes it show up again. But now there are two IsposureAgent processes, one running as SYSTEM and the other as me.

I do have a similar startup problem with Steam for some months now though.

That's the only way I've actually let it run so far.

I've got stats, the other tests all run, but the line speed one tries repeatedly but fails.

Same thing here, but I haven't touched it since a reboot (so I assume this is normal)

I got a pleasant natured response to my enquiry :-)

Hi Tony,

Many thanks for your feedback.  Currently isposure is Windows only, but we are hoping to support Linux and OSX in the future.  Sorry if you found the branding and graphics on the site misleading - I can only assume that the girl pictured managed to install Windows on her Macbook!

Best regards,
Paul

Why is the service Windows only, and why does the site have a picture of a good looking gal using a Macbook OSX computer?

Some have questioned the test, saying, their connect is shared and having only one computer on monitored shows slow results as the other computers use bandwidth, affecting the monitoring.

Well it is obvious this test is not for them.  The only way to test a single connection would be to have a client running in many of the different routers around the country - and you will agree that this is not possible because most of the routers in use are not capable of running any application.

So they started with a client - a Windows client because of the number of people using this platform, and I guess the majority of people use a single PC on their connection. Results would really be influenced in this condition only if all PCs on a network inside your flat would be doing full time transfers.

Even if you don't measure this people with multiple PCs doing full time transfer on a home LAN, you can still get a number of samples big enough to be representative.

In other words: if you can't run the client, don't run.

One problem with measuring, it tells you exactly what you're getting.

My Xtra connection line speed tests every time at or about 3.2Mbs while my synch speed is 7.5Mbs. I understand that a 128kbs upload will limit the download but 3.2 seems low (according to isposure lower than the xtra average). Does anyone know if any flavour of Telecom DSLAM has a fixed bandwidth per subscriber?

Same here.. Installed... Icon there... works.. but after a reboot the tray icon goes away.  Installed twice, and same problem.
Have informed them.

ctrl-alt-del, kill the process, and restart the app.  Not a fix I know, but it does bring it back to life.
