chevrolux:

I tend think REN is rather irrelevant these days. I would of thought it was bloody hard to find a handset that is 1 REN.

These days people at home are just buying Uniden/Panasonic DECT sets where just the base unit connected to the line and the rest are DECT.

for a single handset I completely agree. But the OP said they had 3 units attached to the one common line.... and without knowing what physical kit is connected, REN becomes very important. I once had a customer who had an entire outdoor paging system for their goods yard, attached to horn speakers and triggering visual lights to indicate a call. the calculated REN was 4... and that only became clear once we migrated them from a POTS port to one supplied from a PATTON unit.

Anyway I'm sure the OP will have things all in hand.... or failing that our resident analogue guy Mr Biddle can help, when he finishes his speaking tours of NBR.

Hi, whynot just setup a 2Talk account port your number and get an SPA122 and your done.

https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/NETCIS1820087/Cisco-SPA122-VoIP-Gateway-ATA-with-Router-Phone-Ad

Edit: the SPA will easily run ringers on three DECT base stations or modern electronic phones, but will struggle with more than one old style mechanical ringer on each port.

So I would recommend that you upgrade to DECT anyway. Infact why not port your current number, plus add another number, setup them up on the two ports on the SPA and configure them to group ring.

Buy a DECT basestation with dual handsets for the bar/kitchen as I assume they are close together, put that on the new number and the existing office phone on the ported existing number.

That way the Bar/Kitchen can intercom between, you get two individual numbers that allow two outbound lines one from office and the other from Kit/Bar and all will ring on inbound calls.

Cyril
