If it's exchange fed, it is not vectored. Chorus also do not vector in chorus fibre areas.

Is this supposedly true of everywhere? Only reason I ask is fibre was available in my street before Vectoring was turned on but they turned it on anyway I think -- judging that a property directly opposite the cabinet is on 100M VDSL?

I would have thought that vectoring would only work from cabinets where there are no chances of another ISP colocating. The vectoring isnt compatible between brands of dslams and requires link cables between the dslams, and all pairs in the same trunk cable need it enabled for it to work.

So that explains why they dont do vectoring in exchanges.

The non-vectoring in fiber areas I can only assume is for encouraging people to switch to fiber for faster speeds as its widely known that fiber costs less to maintain than copper lines.

it was a requirement tcf? put upon them to turn it all on.

i think its absurd that they can vector in other LFC areas but not their own tbh.

Before vectoring, the broadcom cards could do 140/50. Vectoring isn't required for 100+Mbit, but it goes a long way to help it stay high rates further away.

A very small subset of users saw speed decreases from vectoring, dropping down to the 130/30 profile.

Thanks for the clarification

I guess I was kind of assuming vectoring was turned on because my own connection approx 700m from the cabinet jumped up 10Mbit but I have also seen technicians digging up cables so maybe something else was repaired for that to happen
