600Mbps was a figure I pulled out of the air a bit but I'm pretty sure I have seen someone topping out around there with PPPoE - looks like you are on IPoE (DHCP) with Stuff Fibre though so the router may handle that a bit better - that is a reasonably common thing to see. Netcomm are a shocker for it for example.

As Hio said, very likely you are running into a CPU bottleneck on the laptop. I see Stuff recommend that router so you would think it would do the speeds they are advertising, but even so doing a speedtest from within Windows is not an accurate way to test.

Thank you everyone for your advice. I do take the point that the CPU is getting overloaded.

This was obvious when the S/F tech was running his control bot and Task Manager, together they took

33% of the CPU so him running Speedtest and browser as well was not going to end well.

So I might just accept the fact and move on. At least running Torrent others are benefitting from

the extremely high upload speed. (heh heh 450Mb/s upload.....)

I got the laptop rather than a desktop for portability which I am now not using, but not worth

getting a $1000 PB Tech gaming box just to prove a point.

I have the same problem with my Stuff fibre. I talked with them a lot of times and they say that it is an issue with my computer. But it is not. I will try to explain it.

With my previous provider I got 950 Mbps easily with the Huawei router they sent me. The problem was with the WIFI because the Huawei router has a bad WIFI signal. Then, I changed to Stuff because the Asus router has a better WIFI signal and it is true but when I did the speedtest I only got 500 Mbps. I tested several times, with other computer and with my Android TV box as well and always I got the same download speed: around 500 Mbps.

Then, I reconnected my old Huawei router and the speed became 950 Mbps again. Whenever I passed the Speedtest I got the same speed. I swapped the routers and then the same thing: Asus 500 Mbps, Huawei 950 Mbps. For that, I think is not a problem with my computers, it is something blocking the Asus router speed. I talked with them and they sent me another Asus router just to test it and the problem persist.

They insist that the problem is with my computer, "a compatibility problem between my computers and Asus router"...😱😱

I am talking about 2 new computers and different models so I guess is not a "compatibility problem"

Now I am waiting for a solution from Stuff but I am afraid that they will continue to say that the problem is not the router but my computers...

Is the ASUS one you have provided or Stuff?

Sounds to me like it's not capable of routing full speed. Simply a device limitation.
