Some things to clarify...

The Telecom Security Suite is an ongoing monthly subscription based service - so actually not a trial. Pretty sure that they had this free for ages, but only promoted it now...
Vodafone don't use a system called Quik - ihug bought out quite a few ISPs over the last few years, one of them being Quik.
Telecom don't hide the Broadband plan speeds, they're just in text.
Orcon@Home plans are packs, just like Vodafone's, and speeds are stated on the "Broadband" page
Actrix made the truely unlimited "Elite" plan - which costs $596/496... the standard broadband Cyberjet plans are like other ISPs

Can't blame you for not understanding... with such a range of different combinations and confusing pages and information, it's extremely hard to find stuff. Even I have trouble sometimes.

I will have a look and contribute to - and more than likely LINK to the Wiki community driven page - that will be filled with opinions and experiences.
All I want here is a LIST of 'all' packages to compare and relevant links. I think it is best to leave the personal experiences and moaning oportunity to forums and blog sites and keep this one 'static.

I went to the nzconnection site and found it verrrry slow to load the Broadband pricing comparison - in fact I am still waiting.
Its wizzing through now - must be first visit problem. They have combined all regional and business packages too - not what I wanted really - too much input can blow your head up.

To be honest, I found your site full of opinion, not the wiki. The wiki provides information at face value in a factual, informative manner. The wiki also seems much easier to navigate, but that may just be personal opinion.

Looking at the webpage your webpage is 50% your own opinion and 40% wrong. Only 10% of it is actual fact. If you want an oponion site.. then you might wnat to actually be able to

Yes people can have their own opinions but when its quite wrong it makes me cringe. You might want to change the name to "My Personal Opinion Website about Broadband in New Zeland which some may or may not be factsually correct"

I would go through it and actually check the facts you state on all the ISP's as some of your said "Facts" (Your Opinions) are quite factually incorrect.

Also please make sure you call the companies by their proper name.

You start at the top with your present ISP (WXC and give them 100% praise, but you don't comment on any of their negative things). How long until you get upset with them (if you do) and put them down the bottom of the website)

Hi ,

I'm run off my feet here so I have seen replies come in but not been able to merit special attention.

TBH - We do not mind the negatives AT ALL - that is indeed what was wanted from a community response.

We DO however want to POINT OUT that we were not looking for a comparison to the other site ( that I never found to exist before we started our page).

To be dedicated to one task and one task alone online takes a great deal of time setting up. IF one person or company wants to express an opinion - so be it - that be the way of the web ( or 'dub dub dub' lol ).

As far as facts go - our info is WYSISYG
as in - what's on the SUPPLIERS site - gets posted - END...

BUT - Consider this - they search - go to netconnections - don't stay(SLOW on first visit ) - go back to us - see a link to reccomend netconnections - They are going to go back aren't they?!

SO...... any other sites to reccomend?

Apologies - I have not read through the posts since the last visit really - not had the chance yet to give response

Still need to add 'Snap' < --- bad me , should have done it already

I doubt the suppliers site(s) have such opinionated views written upon on them. No, wait, I'll rephrase that, I know they don't.

Marketing talk is one thing, but phrases such as "waaaaay down the list - you are not 'seeing things'", "Prices have gone UP AGAIN", "One word to be polite.......OUCH!" and my favourite: "please talk to us FIRST before dishing out a premium to your ISP", as well as numerous spelling and grammar mistakes, do not present a good view to the public.

Point is - hit gets 'em to the Symsys site - AND promotes THEM! (all good in the long run)

In 11 Google searches, I was not able to bring your site up once, but I did find the NZ Connections Wiki 7 times - that's a 63% strike rate for the NZC Wiki, and a 0% strike rate for your site. I'm not being mean when I say this, but, if you intend to drive traffic to the NZC Wiki, how will you do that when you don't show in the Google search results? Let us also mention that you may just have the wrong goal here, too.

While we're here, let's also touch on site speed - yours is not exactly the quickest page out there, and to top it off, it's also confusing to navigate. We won't mention the colour scheme, either.

Please get your facts right.. let note a few thing you have wrong and I'll get you to fix..

The 'Security Package' they are giving away 'free' is McAfee Antivirus (Probably a 3 Month Trial Package) - In most knowledgable peoples opinion is useless compared to AVG antivirus that is free for anyone to download and is not a trial version.

They are very quick to disconnect you if you Direct debit is an hour late

- DD are taken from provider from customer.. so cannot be late unless you are talking about an AP which is customer pushed to provider. and even so.. you expect a company to supply service if you don't pay for it?

KOL have fallen totally subject to ORON and are 'currently reviewing broadband plans'

- I don't know what exactly you are trying to say via this.. and you mean Orcon not ORON

Xtra do offer Mobile Broadband plans at high price for lowMB usage and minimum 24month contracts.

- You talk about Mobile Broadband, but you don't talk about vodafone's service or any other type of broadband? Wireless? Satellite? etc etc

Monthly subscription - Is NOT free! I understand that, but I was trying to keep to much 'personal opinion out of it (that is aparrently not allowed haha) Yes, most promote old deals as 'something special' Can we not point out that Mcaffee is total rubbish?! - Sorry - YES WE CAN. AVG 'Was' good - Until Yahoo got it's claws into that latest version and all of a sudden it 'takes over' all cpu process it can when it is running a scan.... sad about that - because it used to be brilliant on Windows.

I WILL correct and redirect as appropriate :) re the 'quik' rubbish sorting.
Will correct telecom - sorry Are just unanimously hated here - will change to 'max' - I just do not like the way they purposely flirt around something others flirt around more upfront than they do. Anyway, what you are telling me is that Voda are turning into an 'Orcon' - Buy everyone - give S**t service? - yes?

Orcon - yes - and are stated as being packs. I really do not understand why this one had to be clarified - I will have to have a look . They 'and we' state they are toll packaged' at the higher price

In the last 4 days we have been moving our entire website ( that had great google hit rate ) to a new server AND restructured , AND re-designed it . No point in explaining that to this lot on geekzone that are intent bashers though. Criticism we can take - since all we asked were for suggested improvements on one page while making BIG changes to our site - bashing is taken as the stupiidity it is.

Partners and employee opionion seeing the disgrace so far is to pull out of geekzone completely

OOOF LennonNZ ... I signed up to your www nsdsl site - errrrrm - who are you to talk! Hard to navigate, full of whatever sponsor/provider pays for click more. ... not exactly popular site. Really, .... ok theres ZERO personal opinion - ... erm thats because theres NO input from YOU - from what I see so far! I have clicked on the links and it is spam spam spam

Yes www.nzdsl.co.nz looks ugly and is yukky. and has always been.. and I admit it. It might of looked better/run better if I actually had time to do anything with it.. Not popular??????????? It was ranked up to number 50 website that New Zealanders went a couple of years ago for a few months. It is alot less ranked these days. but still get a number of individuals per days looking at it using what it offers. even with all its faults (Probably as I've not done anything really to the website in a year).

But still I start up/write webpages for a niche.. for example unlockit.co.nz it has 2 webpages 3 files to download and looks bad on most computers. Gets 1000 different people looking it a day. and my other websites get people to them as well.

I was not reaslly trying to put your website down.. but mistakes are mistakes but statements due to misinformation ? You said that Orcon has changes its name many times and not to trust them because of this?? I have no idea where you got that from.

Anyway good luck.. but remember no one will go to your website if you cannot actually be found on google.

Read the above - actually try doing the above - and see how you show up - our hits halved but are still more that yours discluding our own megga visits for sitewide updates.

Moving sites and domains on an active site AND updating and restructuring is not a joke! .co.nz's still go to us but dmoz is being a pain ... due to a direct rival meddling. fun n games. At the end of the day, our search hits are not a important as the day to day business...we all work for a living.

LennonNZ is correct. The Antivirus supplied by Xtra is a full version.

Most antivirus today (the first tier ones such as Avast, AVG, Symantec, McAfee) are very good and do pretty much the same job. The McAfee one supplied by Telecom is free of charge and is a great way to let people who never used an Antivirus to start using one.

I wish other ISPs provided such a service. It's a key differentiator - Yahoo! Flickr Pro account for free, Antivirus for free and so on. People don't realise that some of these things are actually quite good value and posting incorrect information just make things worse.

First, being the site adming I want to clarify that no one except myself is "the site forum". You can't say "a forum that is against personal opinion" because of a user.

I think you should stop fighting the people pointing out stuff on your site. This will help things quiet down a bit. What I read so far is that a page that should be a source of information for comparison is also loaded with opinion. Opinion should be clearly labeled to help people make their own decisions.

Well, a few of the people posting here actually work in the industry so I would take the "bashing" as some valid points, act on them and move on to the next stage.

Well, it's tough. Peer-to-peer review is hard to accept when you think your product/service is great. Participate in in some more technical circles and you will see what I mean. Some people can be very critical of the quality of information provided.

After all, this information could lead some non-technical consumer to decide on a product or another just based on your "opinion". It's like someone going to a doctor and trusting it completely. This is how you have to think when posting information out. Be completely transparent, accept the critics, improve, repeat.

So take this as a vote of confidence. If we let you come this far, then you are not being bashed. If it was really bad this would have been deleted on day one...

Me too - and the NZ Connections team have also been attacked here before by someone posting about their "findings"...

So even we've been through tough times (though that was more personal and less constructive than this)

The broadband page was marked for scratching since the info is a lot to deal with - so I simply asked you to have a look.

Positives out of it are a few minor corrections were pointed out
