Lastly the advantage of PI is its enemy, its less secure than a well set up Static IP..

Why did BP use to use Dynamic IP and now they dont at all?

So if the Mrs doesnt need a white listed IP you are saying it matters not Static VS Public?

When BP moved from Dynamic to Public I thought the main issue is that Public is much less secure?

If the IP only changes on Reboot Im sure she could easily just give the network guys at work a new address without too much fuss.

Aside from security, Video conferencing or any service has no degradation? Why does avast say voip and video are more reliable on static? (advantages of static)

I think you're confusing Static IP vs Dynamic IP vs CGNAT IP.

Most Static IP is public anyway.

DNS doesn't care which type you are using, unless you are pointing a sub-domain to your home address.

Work from home doesn't require static addresses as most VPNs will go through on their outgoing connection (providing dynamic addresses don't change every five minutes, which does happen really) and most work these days can also be done on browser-based services.

Static or dynamic are both as secure as each other. It's not the IP you need to worry about, but what you're allowing in and out of your network through the IP. So be more concerned about any ports that you're opening rather than what IP you have facing the world as it doesn't matter.

Yeah, no reason at all they'd want to convince customers to use static IP's....

Dynamic and Static addresses are public, unless the addresses are behind CGNAT.

I think there's a lot of confusion showing on in your statements.

That's a major missuse of DMZ... shouldnt be required at all.
