Short answer:
Just tell your provider to upgrade the secondary connection to a primary product.

Full answer:
Chorus classify services as Primary & Secondary, previously they have only permitted a single Primary service to be present at a time which has prevented multiple 1Gb products from being activated (the 1Gb Product only exists as a Primary service) however this restriction has been removed over the last few months and second Primary service can be ordered simply by submitting a Change order to replace the secondary service with primary product, as the existing service would sit there unused this would not cause any performance issues on the ONT.

The OP was connected on Port 1 this morning following the completion of the other RSP's disconnect order. For the record, the incoming order for the OP was submitted to Chorus on 04/02, and the outgoing RSP had 5 days from that date to either accept or reject the abandonment request. They did not respond (as far as I can tell) so their connection was automatically terminated late yesterday at the end of the 5 day notice period, allowing us to connect the OP this morning.

I have contacted the OP's provider advising them they can now terminate the temporary connection on Port 2 - no longer required.

The 5 day wait period is set by the Telecommunications Forum and as such, it cannot be circumvented by Chorus unless by agreement with the outgoing provider. In this case I can't say whether that agreement was sought or not as I don't have that information to hand.

Thanks Wheelbarrow and ChorusNZ. I think some wires were crossed at my ISP's end, as they had not explained the 5 day process to me.

I'm still not sure however why the abandonment order was not placed by my ISP with Chorus until 4/02.

What would have stopped @CcMan from asking to do a transfer primary instead of asking for an abonnement? surely that would have been a 4-6hr turnaround? or can that not be processed if there is another order in place? IE there was a 30-day disconnection request?

You would have required the lsp details including account.

Generally, you won't have that unless your porting your own service.

Really depends on provider. Those who go over apis directly tend to know this upfront. Whereas if it goes to a back office team they may not be aware a connect and replace is being done.
