This is because Vodafone own the HFC Cable network and don’t have to pay chorus for a Fibre Tail

Fibre is just better than any other technology is inferior so if I was you I would pay maybe $5-$10 more p/m for fibre

Why would you stay on cable when fibre is available? I'd pay a bit extra and get a better connection - moreso if it means moving provider.

The mere fact they wouldn't let you move says a lot (bad).

If you have fibre available, why oh why would you want to remain on faux fibre, very odd.

Cyril

cost

Sign up to a fibre provider who offers no contract, pay the generally $49 setup fee and 1 months service then cancel.

fiber installed for a small one off charge

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

do you actually get anywhere near 900M down? helped someone sort out LAN wiring a couple of months ago, who was on a similar hfc plan, but they were really only getting 250M. yes, it depends on location, so you might be better off.

As I understand it, and I’m going from memory, Fibre rollout will be complete by the end of 2022, after which you’ll need to pay to be connected; ie won’t be covered under the UFB initiative.
