Ants like some ant killer, don't like other ant killers.  But I'm unsure about the correlation between liking and death.

Green is Antex, Orange is Raid.

When I was younger, Mum used to make her own ant killer. It was mainly sugar and the ants absolutely loved it. No idea how well it killed them though!

With ants you have to declare war. No mercy. Read The Art Of War. It’s actually surprising readable and relevant to more things in life than you’ll expect.

Anyway, ants. Use bait stations and keep them topped up. When the ants stop eating the bait and you think they’re done, they’re not. Keep the stations deployed indefinitely in permanent residence even after a year of keeping up with replacing the evaporated poison. Use ant sand around the perimeter of your house. Re-apply the sand after every bout of bad weather that may have removed it.

You're not on Atlantis anymore, Duncan Idaho.

The ant baits you buy at Mitre10 and other places is basically sugar and borax. So you can make it yourself. That is probably what your mum made.

Here is an article with instructions on how to make your own ant bait station to put outside to kill the little buggers.

We had ants in a mesh repeater in the garage.

I don't know if they started there or were attracted by the ant bait beside it. We use exterm-an-ant as a pest control guy we used swears by it.

The bait worked because I found the ants when they were dead. Picked up the repeater and there was a pile of dead ants underneath. A large pile.

Meshy still meshes though.

Gave the ONT a tap this morning as I left, and no sign of any squatters. Think my last attack was successful... for now. I should setup a webcam on it, stream it so can see when the buggers move in again ;)

I don't think you have enough ants to show a definite preference. It is usually whether the ants go for sugar or protein. With more ants you'd end up with all dots surrounded.

In the case of Exterm-An-Ant
"100ml. Contains 80g/litre Boric Acid and 56g/litre Sodium Borate in the form of a ready-to-use liquid."

The trick is getting the poison level right so the ants manage to pass it on to others in the nest before they die.

Not an option, its mounted on internal wall :)

I'll just drown the area in ant bait and fly spray for now.

you probably mean the same/similar thing (rather than actual 'fly' spray). mortein outdoor barrier spray lasts longer.

I do.  Replicated more than 10x over many days.  Didn't want to bother you all with every photo!
