Yep I have it too now and it’s working as expected. Very happy and only $79/month worth Sky

Not sure if I need to be a bit concerned, I switched over to Sky on Sunday (March 20th) with my switchover date set for tomorrow (March 25th). I received the initial email saying thank you for signing up yaddayadda, but I haven't heard anything else since. I'm supposed to receive a router that's already set up but I also haven't gotten that yet. I tried to log into the sky site, but it flashes a loading icon then I get a completely blank page.

Is this normal? I don't mind using my old router until the new one shows up, however I didn't receive instructions for setup once the move over does happen. Also does anyone know about what time of the day they do the switchover usually?

Who is the ISP you are switching from?

your fritz will just work when your connection churns, as both ISPs support PPPoE over VLAN10 then you can wait for your new modem to arrive

That's great news, thank you very much. I tried searching their site but didn't have much luck finding what I was after.

Cheers

Just an update, the switch didn't happen. I called them today, and they said the order was never put through by their sales team. Not a very promising start, but I'm apparently now set (again) for a week from today. We'll see how that goes.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Didn't know if it made any difference, but I rang them on the Monday before my Friday Connection, as I hadn't received my router. Things started to move quickly after that, but don't know if it was my call that got them moving, or whether they usually wait until that close to connection date.

I am still very happy with my connection. I occasionally had connection problems with VF, but none so far with SKY.

I switched over to sky broadband from myrepublic 2 days ago, on their 1000/500 plan.

Seemless switch over, speeds seem generally faster than MR.

Reason for switch over:

Just over a week ago, MR speeds were crap for a day, yet their status page said "all was well", looked on twitter and saw other people having issues. One person tweeted them if there was an issue, and they eventually replied that their was.

They could have updated their status page, or tweeted that they had an issue (or actually had a support number to call), would have saved me time in troubleshooting my end where there was no issue.

I've been a MR customer for around 5 years, and this is by no means the first time I've found their customer comms lacking.

Hopefully Sky will be better.

Mine is getting switched over tomorrow. Hopefully early or late in the day just because my wife and I both wfh. The router showed up the other day and I got it set up with no problem. It's certainly faster than my fritzbox was. A few minor things like not being able to set hostnames for the static local ipv4 addresses, but other than that all is good. I'll update in a month or so once the switch happens.

I promised an update after a month.

So far things have been pretty good. I've had 3 outages, each lasting between 3-10 minutes. Usually a router reboot corrects it, and they've been during different times of the day. I'm guessing it's router related since the ONT isn't flashing any issues. Not sure if it's just trying to reset the IP or what, but it's not ideal.

Other than that things have been good. Speeds have been great, no issues there at all. I'm building an OPNSense router on a vm to try out, so I'm trying to see if I can use the provided router just as an AP to save some money. No luck so far, but I'm still early in my search.

I'll keep an eye on the disconnects, hopefully it's just coincidence.

I've had SKY Speedy Broadband for over a month now. No problems at all. No outages, and speeds of 325mbs D/L and 109mbs U/L.

Received a telesales call... have been thinking about this.  But then realised I was susposed to ditch sky and sign up to NEON (and still get kids tv channels at less than half the price I pay now).

>>> Can you log into the supplied router and switch off the wifi?  (want to use my unifi instead).

Not sure but why? Sky provides a wifi6 router, unless you have U6-PRO APs you are better of with the Sky router Wifi

UAP-HD will be slower

How did you get on with this?

I use a Unifi Security Gateway currently, can I just connect from the fibre access point to that? (Without using the Sky box at all).

Pretty large unifi network here on the property with multiple wireless access points and switches etc.

Thanks,
