I'd be concerned about what is going to happen if/when they come to sell. No guarantee that the new owners will agree to keep this set up at all. Nothing you'd be able to do about that. Makes this a more risky proposition.

New owners will need to come up with their own solution, this would not be a permanent solution for the house.

I think nzkc is talking about the owners of the house that has fibre selling up, and thus cutting off the connection.

I have a similar set-up, with wireless access to fibre from in town.  I've had to set up a retrans station high up on a neighbours property to be able to see into town. When the original neighbour, who gave me permission to set the system up, sold, there was real concern that we would have to remove everything if the new owners weren't keen to have it there.  Luckily, they think it's really neat and a more than happy for it to remain.

That is the risk with any DIY solution to get fibre outside the UFB area. Most people, as you have already stated are reasonable.

Excuse if this is ignorant - how about StarLink when it happens ?

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Something else you can do is make friends with somebody across the road, get port 2 of their ONT provisioned with your own service then set up a wireless peer to peer link to your house (Ubiquiti Nanobeam or similar).

The risk is constrained by the money involved. A few hundred dollars of kit is pretty rapidly depreciated. OP would be in no worse position than they are today.

Is the OP coming back to see the responses? Certainly plenty of information to think over here.
