Plan: Night Owl Unlimited (7am - 7pm 128kbps bothways, from 7pm - 7am 128kbps up and ~4.5mbps down)

Plus: unlimited is unlimited (50-120Gb a month). SNAP is best ISP I've experienced since 2004 :)

Peevs: I wish the speed during the day would be at least 512kbps with limited data perhaps (1Gb during 7am - 7pm hours at most).

How Used: web serfing and online TV watching

Location: Wainuiomata, Lower Hutt
Plan: 10mbps down / 2mbps up (80gb Per Month)
Provider: TelstraClear Cable
Pluses: Good Download Speed / Resonably good upload speed / Hardly any outages
Peeves: Need more bandwidth. 80gb a month is not enough
Used For: General Internet and streaming licenced Radio Station to the world :)
Considering Moving?: No chance in Hell.  I have experienced ADSL and personally I think it's rubbish.

location:Wilton Wellington
Plan: 10M down, 2m up - 80GB
ISP: Telstraclear (cable)

Love Telstra Cable and will not go back to ADSL.

Would like a bigger cap, I usually use around 150-200Gb per month so I end up paying a lot in overuse charges but I have to have my TV and Movies in HD. allthough 92a may put a stop to that one day.

Location: Mangaweka, Rangitikei
Provider: Wireless Nation Satellite
Plan: discontinued plan 5GB @ 1024/512 (all new plans literally twice the price of old ones due to wholesaler not playing the game)
Pro: It's a broadband plan that is actually available in my location!
Con: It ain't cable :( Ultra-high ping, high cost, expensive equipment
Use: Mail, browsing, possibly future VoIP (I know, it'll suck). Anything that doesn't use too much allowance
Changing?: Yes, when telecom makes wired bb available out here, or when hell freezes over, whichever comes first. I suspect I'll see Hitler snowboarding before we get bb on wire :(

Ah, the idyllic rural life . . .

  • no cellphone reception
  • no UHF TV reception
  • no ADSL

I'm surprised I still have my sanity!

Location: St Johns Park, Auckland
Service: Orcon+ Network
Plan: ADSL2+ FS/FS Silver+ 25gb addon (30gb total)
Plus: Awesome service, very fast, great people, not that expensive, no contract, awesome uptime and only $1 per extra gb
Peeves: To be honest none right now. A higher data cap might be nice. ;)
How used: 4 different computers, heavy usage (web surfing, TVNZ on Demand, TV Shows, Movies, YouTube + a lot more video and also backups.
Considering moving? No way. Just moved - really happy.

Plus: consistently good speed, extra GB cost is ok
Peeves: would like higher data cap or no cap for cost

Ok:

Location: Lower Hutt, Wellington
Plan/Provider: Telecom Total Home + 10gigs (20 gigs total)
Pluses: Upload speed is around 900kb/s on ADSL (not ADSL2+), not slowed down when I hit my limit for 24 hours, so can get some mad torrenting done (got to 60 gigs last month).  Always sped back up a day early as well. Don't pay for it as I work for Telecom :)
Peeves: Wish I had ADSL2+ because my download is only 4mb/s and torrents take way too long.  Jan 2010 is when it is happening for me (another 10 months and counting, it better not be delayed....)
How I use it: 3 users in household, about 8gig in Youtube a month, 10gig in PS3 demos/skins/updates etc, 5gigs on gaming and 40 odd gig on torrents {all legal, of course :)}
Considering moving? Nope

Location: Milford, North Shore
Service: Orcon
Plan: Orcon+ Gold (10GB + 25GB extra pack)
Plus: Speed, good support.
Peeves: Not being able to buy extra packs mid-month, to avoid high price per GB.
How used: household, torrents, gaming, 2 PCs, HTPC, game console
Considering moving? Only to FTTH or cable (if they ever come into Auckland).
