Enable are currently in the middle of a new access network, which is occuring this year.

Extending Hyperfibre is on the roadmap at the end of this process to sit on top of this new access network, and the latest indication from Enable timeline-wise is December 2024 for Hyperfibre coverage extension.

Any updates on this?

I work from home in Avonhead, and struggle with connectivity daily.  I remote access servers and jump hosts mostly in NZ and AU and often get dropped due to lag at certain times of the day.

Teams calls frequently hang.

Currently on Quic unlimited plan.

Had Hyperfibre 8G when I was living in AKL, it was amazing! Remote sessions felt like I was connected directly to clients network.

I promise you this is not a bandwidth issue between you and the LFC or your ISP.

Latency, routing, packet loss and network equipment issues between you and the remote nodes are all much more likely factors, with latency and routing almost certainly being the main factors.

Which ISP(s) service these jumphosts? Have you done actual speed tests between those locations and yourself? Are you using RDP, SSH, or some other access method for these jumphosts? All highly relevant and much more likely to identify the issue than your home connection speed.

If you want some help from people on here, it might pay to open up a thread and you might get some guidance on how to identify the bottleneck.

Anything I say is the ramblings of an ill informed, opinionated so-and-so, and not representative of any of my past, present or future employers, and is also probably best disregarded.

Good point, I was assuming when they roll out hyperfibre, there would be new hardware installed, which might fix the issue.

I use a mixture of Citrix, AVD and RDP.  It definitely seems like the further away the remote connection, the higher the latency. CHC servers are fast, WEL ok, AKL depends on time of day, AU normally poor.

Thanks for the tip, I will open a thread to investigate 👍

Hyperfibre won't fix that. Teams call work fine for me on a standard 300/100 connection over wifi. I find it amazing you think hyberfibre will fix teams calls -- which have fairly low bandwidth requirements. Generally it's more important to ensure your LAN/WLAN (on your side of the fibre connection) is not contributing to any local latency issues.

However I have honestly never seen a teams call hang (and I use Teams every day). I do see regularly freezed/dropped frames yes, pixelated frames yes, etc (as Teams seem to struggle more than Zoom) but a full on hang sounds odd. Could it be a software/hardware issue on your end?

Just happened again; noticed my network icon in system tray had lost internet access. Will try another PC to see if is persistent.
