newznz: This guy spun info and deceived many many VF customers around the iPhone 4 launch screw up, and many consider he was an outright liar. Not sure he'll be taken seriously as someone pretending to represent the issues of those very people he was so outrightly dishonest to.

JohnR you can attack me again all you like but I'm just expressing my opinion.

VFNZPaulBrislen: Hi all, yes it's true. I'm off to TUANZ as the chief executive. I start in February after a nice long summer.

To answer the questions so far: Yes, I can. Tex will be fine. The chairs are indeed musical!

I was a reporter for a decade before joining Vodafone and when I said I was coming over to the dark side (TM) there were plenty of folk who said I would struggle as I'd been such a vigorous reporter on the telco sector. I would hope those skills haven't entirely deserted me.

Good luck with it all,

Cheers

Paul

On your last day can you return the keys to me for the red Helicopter please

@kiwitrc yep he openly attacked myself (then a VF customer) and others on Twitter who questioned VF's tactics and lack of communication (his role ironically) on, and after the failed launch day. Plenty more examples but my point is also a greater one.

When you work for a company, you have to spin the company line, even if you personally don't agree with everything they do.

Congrats Paul, hope the job came with a nice tasty payrise :D

Did you get gardening leave? I would imagine that would be policy for someone in your position moving to the new role

To the naysayers, who better to be in this role than somebody with indepth knowledge of the inner workings of Telco activity, the political machinations, and spin techniques?

I've had some good Tweets backwards and forwards with Brislen representing the VodafoneNZ Twitter account. Sad to see him go. Good luck for the future Paul.

newznz: No surprise that this pro-Vodafone site endorses him!

That's a ridiculous statement.  Plenty of spades being called spades on GZ...across the telco board.

Given the kind of useless spin routinely put out by Brislen in the past, I for one am not holding my breath on any great things happening.

I didn't always agree with the VF staff on here and elsewhere but at least they were always straightforward.

I wonder what Paul's position on Vodafone abusing their status as the only bricks-and-mortar retailer in NZ to sell the iPhone 4 by refusing to sell off-contract and imposing mandatory 24-month contracts will be *now*...? ;-)

All the best, Paul!
