My opinions and ideas expressed in posts are solely my own and do not reflect the views of my employer in any way..
JaBZ: Yes Don I think you are a little bit confused.....
You seem to be forgetting that not only does Telecom upgrade/maintain the LLU, but they also have this thing called the CDMA mobile network which they will be upgrading to EVDO RelA, not only that they also are building the NGN, they will also be upgrading the current DSLAMs to ADSL2 this is just a few things they use it for, now don't you think this is where the $750,000,000 is being spent it's not all about broadband..
freitasm: The infrastructure the ULL is providing is one thing, but then there's billing, charging, help desk, sales, licensing, multimedia delivery platform (IPTV, VoIP servers), and this costs more than you think.

paradoxsm: You have a few good points but this is just yet another.. another. .like all been before it another "I hate Telecom" post. ZZZzZZZzzzZZZzzz. I could sit here typing all night like some or I could go off and make some money...
If you hate them so much, beat them to their own game!
paradoxsm: build a network and sell it to consumers.
Jaffa: Don, I suggest you check out one of telecoms annual reports its breaks all this info down and this is where I got these figures from.
Jama:
The market made up its own mind. Theresa could have pleaded that everything will be ok (which it will) but there is little point when institutional investors would have already decided to move money elsewhere. Shares go up and down. For every share sold in the last few days (millions of them) there is a buyer.
Jama: Don - just had a look at your web site. Are you an Indranet investor by chance?
Jama: Nice idea but ULL makes no difference to what you are trying to achieve.
Jama: Sharing bandwidth with your neighbours is not a new idea.
Jama: If you happened to read the latest Telecom result you would have seen that revenue for mobile data for the last 9 months was $126M. This is one of the fastest growing areas of the business and there is a business case for Rev A just as Vodafone have one for HSDPA.

Jama: By the way are you a Telecom share holder? If you are, then you are more than welcome to attend the AGM and ask Theresa all your burning questions directly.
DonGould:Is NGN actually going to deliver us triple play?
Does our community actually want triple play anyway?
Telstra Clear invested $100,000,000.00 in Christchurch to give us triple play and people are pulling it out in favour of services from more than one provider because Telstra Clear simply aren't delivering what the customers want. How is NGN going to be any better?
Mmmmmmmmmmm
TC can invest $100m in Christchurch on phone, cable internet and TV, yet you wonder how Telecom can spend $750m a year on Broadband, phone, mobile..........
