hio77: certainly not a bad line, your still running that dodgy 0 attenuation firmware though.

DLM-1, 17a with next to no errors. i assume i few days of uptime?

Yeps on same firmware. Ill check with FF re updated firmware. It doesnt even show uptime. I think this isnt the full firmware, it doesnt have options to open a file and run it.  but last power cycle was i think Friday so a week ish.

I think I can pretty conclusively say that having a clean power source makes a huge difference to number of CRC errors.

My UPS, an APC Power-UPS ES 550VA, arrived yesterday. (Big thanks to AquilaTech for sending it out so fast!) I got it installed around 18:45 yesterday, and have been monitoring my stats ever since to see what happened to them.

Here's how they look as of about 14:35.

Compare those graphs with these ones, taken a few days ago after a manual re-sync:

In case you can't read it, I was getting 80+ CRC errors per hour after about 19 hours of operation. I've now been online for just under 18 hours and have a max of 6 CRC errors in one hour, with an average of 2.1 per hour.

The only difference here is the power source. The router had been plugged into a 6-way surge-protected power strip (Connexions branded from The Warehouse, bought several years ago). It's now plugged into the UPS.

I'm going to keep monitoring to see if things deteriorate over time like they did before. But at least things are definitely looking a lot better for now!

mainly a question for brent, but someone else might have something to say too..

given this screenshot, https:https://cdn.geekzone.co.nz/imagessubs/b9b34713861427fee086c55f177b26b8.jpg, is their modem miss reporting, or has DLM-8 been changed from our list of it being 16ms/16ms with an INP of 4?

question comes from the guys line posted here, http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=82&topicid=139063&page_no=3#992700

secondly, a question about my own line, does DLM do any moves on profiles that are already on DLM-1, which affects sync rate? (im assuming a chance in power level and such comes into the question a little.)

reason as i ask, is given my line, for its distance, and how after i fixed a fault, it pulled itself back in sync rate. would there be likely a good improvement for dropping back a DLM profile and letting DLM move back to DLM-1 on its own again, or even getting a DLM reset done and waiting for 17a to come back again.

This is my second line on the property, thanks to the folks over at BigPipe
single jack of course
better line than my primary with Snap, due to the newer wiring on the aerial drop to the house
sadly due to my distance i don't imagine i'll be seeing any higher sync speeds, but interesting, in comparison to the primary line with an old drop lead, this line is 3db lower attenuation.
