Lorenceo: When you had the VDSL installed did Chorus install a master splitter and a new Cat5 cable to a dedicated VDSL jack? 15mb down and 7.5mb up seem like odd numbers to me, if you were getting poor speeds due to distance your upload would likely be a lot lower.

I wasn't home when they did the install and my wife is unsure what they did exactly, they put in the new master jack point for the vdsl modem but unsure if they put in new cable, here is the stats page from the energy imports modem

Your speeds are about right for your sync. There don't seem to be many errors on your line either. You should check over your internal wiring. If there are unused jacks or inappropriate cabling in use it can severely degrade VDSL performance.

short of looking at the specturm, which your modem doesnt appear to show, we have your stats to go off.

everything looks on par, be it a little slower than normal..

maybe your simply in an area with alot of crosstalk?

thanks for your help everyone, spoke to slingshot who confirmed that the speeds are not going to get any better due to being 900m away from the exchange.

So should .5db down stream Attenuation be as big a problem as what is being shown I think not, at 14.5db attenuation I'm getting 35mb down I'd be looking more at the 102.3db upstream attenuation bigbennyc has on his line as a possible problem

Upstream attenuation has never been reported correctly on the Fritz.

I think that the downstream attenuation is being under-reported. I'm about 300-350m from the cabinet and my attenuation is something like 11.9dB. At 900m from the exchange/cabinet, I would expect a figure in the 30s. That would be far more in line with the low sync speed.

Yeah I thought that something with attenuation can't be right because 15dB should give me better sync and vice versa for lower sync. I'll contact slingshot again once dlm finishes (tomorrow I think) and bring up the attenuation

Ah Yes.... Lets see how stable my line is now that i started tweaking on my 17a profile. Might try get it to the full 70mbps if my line is stable for a few weeks.

Broadband Link Downstream 79987 kbps
Upstream Connection Speed  20000 kbps

                         Down / Up

Line Attenuation 12.0 dB /  0.0 dB
Noise Margin 20.4 dB  / 18.18 dB

Are the Db ratings ok. i dont understand them really

Something weird going on there: AFAIK you shouldn't be able to get 80 Mbps downstream and 20 Mbps upstream - Chorus limit it to 70/10 Mbps. Are you with Snap? What modem is that?
Aside from that the noise margin should be around 12 dB and you shouldn't be able to get those speeds with attenuation higher than about 8 dB. What does speedtest.net give you for speed?
