It looks like I've shifted over to the 998 plan. I've gone from 31Mbps 12-13dB SNR DLM-1 to 63Mbps 1-2dB SNR DLM-2. Still definitely on an 8b profile.

Do you think it would be worth playing with my SNR settings to increase the margin (and therefore line stability)? Or would it be better to wait for DLM to change and see if it gives me a bit more SNR?

Atleast give DLM time to settle your line in, see what your error rates do.

If your snr is insanely low, assuming you havent tweaked it down could be a odd sync and thats it.

Good point about the odd sync. I've seen it in the past where I've synced ahead of other devices and gotten a good speed, but SNR suffered when the other lines came back online.

I think I'll force a resync in the morning (when it won't interrupt Netflix!) and see what effect it has. If nothing else, it should rule out a glitchy sync.

That reminds me, has anyone seen any comments in the fritz firmware notes in relation to 998 support? I'm on an old version form various reasons so maybe I'll be forced to upgrade now if I want 998 support...

Edit: Found this file which lists all release notes for the 7340, but there is no mention of 998.

It turns out I didn't need to touch anything. I got a DLM resync this morning, down to 49.8Mbps (still on DLM-2) but SNR is a much healthier 9dB.

I'm loving the 998 band plan so far. Who can complain about going from ~30Mbps to ~50Mbps with no other changes to the line?

I wish they'd hurry up and roll it out here in Napier as the UFB roll out is taking so long I need something to get my lost 12.7Mbps back

997 support was what was being backpatched by snap and AVM for VDSL here... so logically speaking, Fritz support should be there for 998 already.

Remember when we were having to go with certain firmwares to work properly or use the older firmwares?..
