stevehodge:I hope 998 rolls out here soon because we're not scheduled for fibre until after July 2017. In the middle of Auckland. >:(

I feel your pain brother, it's the same for me!  EVERYTHING around us has fibre already, including the damn PARK down the road apparently.

Remember the Dynalink RTA1320? Those things were the rage. Then they'd start screaming after a while eventually crapping out. I have a box of dud ones.

I'll test that theory. I've got a FritzBox 7490 that 2Degrees sent me for free (well for signing for 12 months when I switched over to the unlimited plan), I just haven't got around to setting it up yet.

Same model as your current one & same firmware level?

Sounds like an interesting experiment if so!

No I'm still running a 7340 so it's not going to be a very scientific test.

to stop them from dying a horrid death find a smallish heat sink cut a whole in the top of the RTA1320 and just use super glue to attach the heat sink to the chip worked for me, the RTA1320's problem is as soon as it starts doing any real work it overheats something vicious and for a reasonable replacement try a Huawei 882 normally from vodafone a few years ago

are they a broadcom chipset? supports bridging? might be worth a try, i run PPPoE vlan 10 over them.. so they purely act as a dumb bridge. Given a spot of tuning here and there can be heavy on it..

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Yesterday's sync: 42mbit :)

I'm in Takanini.

Now if I could get my router to stop rebooting itself 3 times a day I might have a pretty good line!

not a bad gain, even over that 10mbit mark!

i recall you talked about tweaking earlier in the thread on 998... to be honest, your already hitting pretty heavy bin counts you might not get very far in terms of diminishing returns.

Yeah, you may be right.  Errors aren't bad (0.15 CRCPM), but I do have 8ms interleaving...

We'll see how it goes when I get to DLM-1, if I ever do damn router!

I might do some tweaking just to see what's possible :)

Here is mine that got upgraded overnight

Speed went from 41/10 to 70/29 as i am on 17a. The funny thing is the downstream changed at about 330am and the upstream changed at about 445.

As you can see from the after stats they are all over the place, with 15dB down SNR and my attenuation has gone up by about 1.5dB

Also as spark hasnt upgraded their BGN's im still hamstrung with the actual speed i can achieve from sites etc. Apparently this is being addressed but its not a priority

some of those stats seems a little out of wack

15dB DS SNR?  Weird!  You've got no SNRM tweaks going I presume?

If I still had one lying round gathering dust I'd rip it apart to find out for you sorry but I haven't had one since going with Orcons Genius (black) now white NF4V I gave it away

Got a nice boost here this week as well.

Standard Fritzbox 7390 on 2degrees. Anyone know what changes they have made? Seem to have happened several places from what I can read out of this thread.
