freitasm: Take a screenshot, cut whatever is not needed and upload it to your Geekzone account.

The "upload" link is available above every Quick Reply box.

God, I must be stupid or something; I can't seem to paste the screenshot into anything to be able to edit it.

Use http://www.gadwin.com/printscreen/ and it will save as something useful - I have mine saving as JPG. Then you can just open with Paint Dotnet or Paint, cut and resize and upload.

This is my place. The green areas if you please are mostly state house areas and even though we are in the 10Mbps zone we dont get that from the exchange here, only about 8Mbps. Sorry I mean the green area just above right of my marker is state house area. Incidentally the exchange I am on is in the big green area to the left of my marker, just under the word Spotswood on the corner where a road goes to the left of the main road

Im sending UFB to a friend in Massey, West Auck over a 5ghz wifi link from the place im at just off Lincoln Road.  half a km line of sight and the guy im sending it to commented on how much faster it is than his adsl2+ connection which hes considering dropping now.

Unfortunately, we live in an area of Bell Block in which Chorus seems to have no intention of providing a cabinet :(

Somehow I don't fancy our chances of getting anything better until UFB comes along in 2015...

Out line stats for ADSL2+ is hardly going to set the world alight either:

And those stats are with a master DSL splitter installed in the house.

this is me:

the map shows no UFB plans for next 3 years, chorus confirms that.  i'm on actual speeds of 6.5Mbps/0.85Mbps in a supposed "Urban Broadband 10 Mbps Zone"  which should probably be renamed to something more accurate.

i have cat5 throughout the house, master filter installed, good wire coming into my property - basically i've done everything i can to optimise the connection.

I'm less bothered about the D/L speeds, what i'd really like is a better U/L speed so i can make more use of cloud services.  Uploading photo/video to cloud service t 80K/s is painful when you unload an 8GB SD card from your camcorder/camera.  Uploading documents to the office network, or to office 365 is also painful at those speeds.

this is a solution i'd consider if i could find a both friendly neighbour, and a UFB connection, close enough and with LOS...  unfortunately there is a hill between home & office

Central Auckland suburb with no hope of UFB in the foreseeable future:

My neighbours can supposedly get VDSL, but I cannot. Although the attenuation here would probably negate much of the speed increases to the point where it'd be hard to justify the price increase.

Just outside VDSL in both directions - although the two sections to the south are cliffs with no buildings.

But have VDSL, 26Mbps down and 10Mbps up - from a drop off a pole!

Check with your ISP seems to be the story

I noticed the green pipe on a street in our suburb the other day and was confused as we are no even in year 3. I followed it up the road to the school and then it clicked as they are a priority user. Can people along the way connect in?

I have heard of atleast one family, a mate of mine knows them.  They can not get any fixed line broadband services at all where they are out in Taupaki, west Auck, they are just too far away from any exchange/cabinet from what ive heard, however there is a school close by which are getting fiber as a priority user, and from what ive heard this family will get broadband via wifi link from the school once its installed, however im only going on 2nd hand info I dont know how accurate this is, or if the school is even allowed to do this?

@kfella2000 - Have a look at the New Plymouth Ultra fast fibre plan here:
http://www.ultrafastfibre.co.nz/files/New%20Plymouth%20Build%20Plan%2020121108.pdf

Unfortunatly looks like the plan in 2013 will just miss you?

I'm on Crownhill, and according to the plan will get UFB this year :)

Not too optimitic, as according the map at the link below, crownhill street is Not covered in any year 1/2/3 plan:
http://www.chorus.co.nz/network-upgrade-map

And the map tool at the link below shows we are in a VSDL zone, but I cannot get VSDL due to poor lines!
http://www.chorus.co.nz/service-availability-tool

ADSL2 modem stats:
Downstream Rate:      9004 Kbps
Upstream Rate:          863 Kbps
Downstream Margin:      12 db
Upstream Margin:      12 db
Downstream Line Attenuation:      25
Upstream Line Attenuation:      6

The vast majority of school installs are a P2P link back to the nearest cabinet, so the realistic answer is no.

You have to remember the chorus map only shows year 1,2 and 3 coverage but the UFB is a 10 year project.

They have said all along schools and hospitals are the focus for the early years.
