As has been pointed out you can't be connected to an exchange 14km away because DSL doesn't work that far.

The simplest way is for you to tell us what the Chorus SAT tells you - this will list the exchange or cabinet you're connected to. If you're not connected to a whisper cabinet it's possible you're connected to a Conklin cabinet in which case the post I above of mine explains the two scenarios that will likely cover you, and you've already said you will be part of the RBI coverage - is this wireless RBI or a cabinet?

Did you contact coffeebaron as discussed in the other thread?

My house is just in the wireless coverage like literally just inside it but I am not paying 90/m for 10GB what a ******* joke. The chorus tool says I am to far from a cabinet but I'm 1.1KM away from a cabinet.
And I did contact Coffee baron but could not have him over.

Here is what SAT says:
This address is in an exchange area where the exchange has been upgraded with faster broadband equipment.However please note that this address is outside the optimum coverage area for faster broadband - which will affect broadband performance at this address.

A pre-qualification check is required to determine what broadband services, if any, are available at this address.
Exchange Area: Waiatarua

Service Area: WUA/Exchange
Status: Completed Dec 2011
But I have a cabinet with ADSL2+ 1.1 kilometres away, again I will have a tech over to see why I am connected to an exchange and not the cabinet.

Maybe take longer or have lower speed etc but the largest Company in NZ is Fonterra who is owned by 11000 farmers most pretty rural. If we are going to take billions in tax dollars from them and use some to build UFB then I think they deserve a little better than dial up.

You don't pay tax on losses or expenses.

There is nothing stopping Fonterra investing it data delivery in New Zealand.

Many farmers are already investing in the area themselves.

Why do people constantly point at Chorus, Telecom and Vodafone and tell them how they should invest their gold?

If Fonterra or farmers don't like paying tax dollars to the government for it to then be spent on UFB then they should spend more of their profits on their own coms networks which would mean a lower profit which translates directly to paying less tax.

Why do you keep looking to Chorus as your solution provider to this problem?

As others have suggested in other places on this forum just today, get a VDSL2 tail dropped off next to the cabinet then use some of these to back haul it the 1.1km to your home.

My 70 yr old father has put up a whole network of these to cover his rural area and can now supply data to 300 homes in his area that have issues with performance of the existing services.

If he can do it, then it's really really just not that hard!

With respect to wireless RBI. you are aware that the carriers don't even own the frequency space they're planning on using for these services, yet, and it's currently still being used for TV!

Incorrect. Wireless RBI exists now using the frequencies and technology that were agreed upon between Telecom, Vodafone and the Government.

Any future 700Mhz LTE networks have nothing to do with the RBI.

Once again without knowing your address anything we say is pure speculation.

If you're connected directly to the WAU exchange and not one of the cabinets it's because you're not within the coverage footprint and the MPF routing doesn't enable that. Once again this is pure speculation, since you haven't said where you actually live.

You could be connected to a Conklin or direct from the exchange, once again without knowing your connection stats it's impossible to know.

You're also in a BUBA area rather than EUBA so are subject to handover dimensioning. Since we don't known any specific details it's impossible to know if you're actually syncing at good speeds and suffering slow speeds because of BUBA congestion or whether your issue is sync speeds due to the distance or a Conklin issue, which once again is a BUBA/congestion issue.

BUBA connections really need to have different plans to EUBA. The congestion, particularly on Conklin's makes them totally unsuitable for large plans.

It doesn't really lessen my point though does it?

I think the key issue here that people need to be considering is that the providers are currently working on a massive amount of work across the whole country with some very long term planning in place.

If people want something 'now' that's out side of the current planning then they really need to look outside of the main three carriers to someone smaller who is able to be more dynamic and fluid and then expect to pay a price for that work.

As I have previously advised, you live in a small patch that is on a long run from the exchange, but misses the cabinets. There are a few patches around like this where the MFP routing didn't allow for easy cabinet deployment.

Talk nice to someone at the beginning of Parker road, or that section of West Coast road. You will need line of site to their property. Setup some Ubiquiti gear between you and them.

Talk nice to someone at the beginning of Parker road, or that section of West Coast road. You will need line of site to their property. Setup some Ubiquiti gear between you and them.

Done a few of these for people, although left it to them to organise the politics with the neighbour, normally there is a win win deal struck and its pretty easy from there.

You're not going to be able to be connected to a cabinet. If you were Chorus would have connected you during the cabinetisation rollout.
