sbiddle:  Approaching an MP or Amy Adams to express views is an exceptionally logical thing to be doing.

Frankly when this guy (sbiddle) suggests you should drop Amy Adams a quick letter on an issue, I would take that as a very serious hint, get off your soap box, get your pen out and start writing.

People also need to remember that the government are a 33% partner in this fibre stuff.  If you have a problem with a company you complain to owner.  If the company has more than one owner then you complain to the other owners if you don't get a good result from the first one you speak to.  This is just common sense.

As for Amy, she's just an MP, nothing more, nothing less.  If you want government help then you have to actually empower people like Amy to act for you.  The best way to do that is just state your case on on a bit of paper that she can then wave at the people who answer to here... you know, the folk who actually build this stuff.

/rant.

TL;DR - Listen to sbiddle!  Unlike some here, he as a clue.

pdath: We just had another Chorus classic.  We had a Chorus tech up last month to a site to do the inside installation.  The external civil team had not done the outside build yet, so he went away.

Guessed who just turned up a month later?  Yep, the inside build team.  Guess who has not turned up yet?  Yep, the outside plant team.  Guess you left the site again, having done nothing?  Yep, the inside plant team again.

We have this happen lots.

Chorus, you must be wasting huge amounts of time sending people again and again to sites that are not ready for them.

Just to let you know that Chorus actualy would have payed no more for your job than if there had only been the right number and sequence of teams during your install - its actualy the Contracting Companys (or their subcontractors) that would have had to foot the bill for multipule visists as Chorus payout set fees to the contractors for the type of install not the actual costs of each.

As I said, they were wasting time.  Imagine how many more installs could be done every day if they were executed correctly the first time.

I absolutely will write to her, didn't realise that was an option when I made the thread. And I'm not going to stop soap-boxing either. In case you hadn't noticed I'm doing EVERYTHING I can to try to get some progress including soapboxing. The more different things I try the more chance of some progress.

Chorus are here today with full traffic management team and are provisioning both my connections as we speak! :D

So to those who suggested I get off my soapbox; I will now. But you should recognise that it worked! Waited 7 months with no progress, post this topic and on their Facebook page and suddenly 6 days later, it's all being provisioned.. either that or it's just one big coincidence...

Familiarise yourself with this as soapboxing will get your posts removed.  If you've got something to say, be concise and clear and respectful otherwise you're breaching the rules you've agreed to and your posts (and possibly your account) will be removed: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=1046

With out reviewing the FUG, I don't actually see an issue with this guy.

He made his point very clearly.

Now he's come back to express his frustration at having to use this vehicle to get a job done that should have been completed via the traditional channels, in his view.

Seems like a reasonable presentation of short posts that are to the point without any foul language (which often comes with this level of frustration).

Thanks to the OP for bringing this to our attention.

While the majority of installation do go smoothly, sometimes things do not go to plan.  The majority of these are resolved via escalation with support from the ISP involved.

There were multiple factors that contributed to the delay in this instance, however once we were made aware of the situation we were able to get things moving.

The one that specifically mentions not soap boxing. Paraphrasing below:

Posts will be removed and the user may be banned if: the forum is used as a "soapbox" by first time posters; "soapbox" posts usually have inflammatory subjects, bad words and the user does not come back with responses after being contacted by the ISP or other users.

Please read the FUG.

To be honest, maybe you should get a different ISP who can be more effective at dealing with Chorus?

Personally if I was running Chorus, which I'm very clearly not, I'd have a robust system to capture end user calls and make sure they're closed down.

The most successful wholesaler I ever dealt with in the technology industry had a whole range of vehicles to make sure its brand, along with the brands of its customers were protected from individuals like the OP.

This isn't to suggest for a second that the OP didn't have a valid claim.

It's also not to suggest that there wasn't a fairly reasonable train of issues that lead to this situation that were quite reasonably beyond the control of Chorus in isolation.

The issue here for me is that it's stuff like this that just makes us all look bad in the technology space.

Rather than spending your time reading about a great technology experience you're reading my banter about someone elses poor experience.    That's not good for our collective desire to sell people more of our technology rather than smoke, drink and gamble.

The Free Dictionary is not our FUG. We have clear rules: posting just for the sake of posting and try to stir things up is not welcome. You made your point, no need to keep going on and on about the same thing.
