Cabinet is actually fibre fed, so if there were enough willing to pay for it.. atlest chorus wouldnt need to run any fibre.

if ufb has taken off like it's meant to have can't they take spare vdsl cards from remuera etc that have vdsl everywhere, ufb everywhere and have had so for a signicant time (and so should have decent uptake by now)?

cabinet itself is still a conklin variant (i have looked up exactly what sort it is, ADSL1 only.) its simply fibre fed. If it was a case of linecards, ofcourse..
It would be good to see urban cabinets re-purposed to rural locations like that.
mercutio: so it's fibre fed, but at what speed? at 100 megabit i would have thought it wouldn't get much congestion. do they do 10 megabit fibre? all the normal cabinets had gigaibt fibre i thought, but i imagine it could be lower...It'll be ATM-based so you might get a 10 Mbps virtual circuit.
