Um? Thats interesting to read... im looking at the maps right now..

Based off the information given there your feed off SCK/R

There is a point where the shape maps go a bit funny seems most likely your in the brinks of this..

I see no plans for fibre of any sort along there sadly.

Cabinet is actually fibre fed, so if there were enough willing to pay for it.. atlest chorus wouldnt need to run any fibre.

It might be worth going on a letterbox run and seeing if anyone is interested. RBI wireless looks interesting. Though at this point I'd probably value data over the relatively small speed increase that, at least as far as I can see it would offer. Definitely worth looking into though. I'm afraid I'm not entirely certain what a p2p link ascertains to?

P2P is finding someone to share a connection with and creating a wireless (line of sight) link to them. Anyone you can see within about 10-20km will do.

just get 8 connections unlimited run them full rate 24/7 and then they'll be forced to upgrade it.

ok that was a bit tongue and cheek. someone said it's fibre fed. you could just bond multiple connections together then. just get a few naked connections.

I should add that closer is better. That and I'm giving max distance based on some specs I think I read a year or two ago.

if ufb has taken off like it's meant to have can't they take spare vdsl cards from remuera etc that have vdsl everywhere, ufb everywhere and have had so for a signicant time (and so should have decent uptake by now)?

cabinet itself is still a conklin variant (i have looked up exactly what sort it is, ADSL1 only.) its simply fibre fed. If it was a case of linecards, ofcourse..

It would be good to see urban cabinets re-purposed to rural locations like that.

so it's fibre fed, but at what speed? at 100 megabit i would have thought it wouldn't get much congestion. do they do 10 megabit fibre? all the normal cabinets had gigaibt fibre i thought, but i imagine it could be lower...

It'll be ATM-based so you might get a 10 Mbps virtual circuit.
