It sounds like you got off lightly. The impression I get here is that more fibre installs turn into major screw-ups than not. I don't understand why it is so hard for them to get it right the first time. Anyway, congratulations on your new high speed connection.
Here we will never get fibre, but until a month ago our 4G RBI was pretty good. I installed a second antenna and we were getting solid 50 mbps down all the time. Then at the very beginning of 2016 the bottom suddenly feel out and were back to 3G speeds, then dial-up speeds. I finally contacted our ISP and was told we had somehow been transferred to a more distant mast, hence the poorer speeds. He is trying to get it sorted but in the meantime we seem to be stuck at about 15 mbps.
